30 Blogs: What you believe

Oh, Lord. Get ready for a novel, folks. I'm going to turn this post into a complete political rant. ARE YOU READY to have me talk your ears off on my beliefs on health care, the housing crisis, GM, abortion,  illegal immigration and sb 1070, and the unemployment extension?

......I didn't think so. I had you going for a second, maybe? I will save those thoughts for the book I write some day titled "Staying Put" (kind of an antonym to Sarah Palin's *Going Rogue*.....)

Anyways, so here are a few of things that I BELIEVE: (some more serious than others)

I came up with this list while I was on my boring 12 mile run this morning. Yes, I said boring. It was.

  • I believe in God. And I believe in the power of prayer.
  • I believe family and husband (who is my family) bring me more joy than anything.
  • I believe Pinot Noir is better than Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • I believe you can take the cheapest, shittiest cut of beef and make it taste delectable with a few hours of red wine vinegar or lime-marinating.
  • I believe we all have a plan, a journey, a destination, and a purpose. It may come early that we discover this - it may come very late in life we discover this. But if we all live with this belief we can find peace.
  • I believe that scales are stupid, idiotic, numerical devices that should only be used in hospitals for monitoring fluid balance ect. Beautiful women with great minds and souls shouldn't waste their time on those silly things.
  • On that note.....I believe eat well, exercise, choose to be happy, work hard, play hard, & live joyfully - don't let numbers decide how you feel about your life! (that's including scales, salaries, $$$ etc)
  • I believe that a little wit and a lot of knowledge can take you almost anywhere you want to go.
  • I believe music has the ability to bring out every emotion a human is capable of feeling!
  • I believe we can learn a lot from children - and their positive take on life.
  • I believe hiking, going for a run, taking a bike ride, or long brisk walk outdoors can uplift anyone's spirits!
  • I'm starting to believe (or realize) that life goes really fast! And that I need to take in and savor every day...and not spend too much time stressing & worrying.

I also believe scales are stupid, idiotic devices - or have been turned into that by our society! I own one but I avoid it at all costs, just check in once ever 3-4 weeks for maintenance ;) I feel bad for the people who feel the need to weigh EVERY SINGLE DAY and obsess over it. That's no way to live!

Whew, clearly we both have really strong beliefs about SCALES of all things! Ha

I LOVE that you said this!! (And that Amber feels the same way!!) Too bad everyone didn't feel this way so that we could stop with this totally skewed idea of what's beautiful.

Great post!

Yep, I agree - scales are dumb. I don't own one. I go by how my clothes feel. I will get on the scale at the gym occasionally just to see what I am at, but I think it only tells one side of the story...

Lots of great things on this list!

I was a tad bit worried when I read your opening paragraph but your list was amazing!
Haha man, I was kind of interested to hear your political beliefs haha.

I agree with lots of your beliefs! I was trying to figure out a way to say your music belief in my beliefs but I think I gave up- you put it well :)

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

Good things

I must say there are many good things I have to be happy about right now! I am in my psychiatric-mental health nursing rotation right now. I originally chose nursing as my major beause from the time I was like 12 I wanted to be a psych nurse. I love it so far. The clinicals are incredible. I am finding I am more organized and ahead of things in this class than I ever have been! Now, if I could be this motived with Critical Care and my Capstone this summer......:) Ryan and I got an entire day together yesterday!!!! This is rare. My spring break kind of sucked. He would leave at about 6 a.m., and not return until 8 p.m. The poor guy is spread too thin! So I cherish a day like yesterday! Which consisted of............. Spring Training baseball!!!!!! Diamondbacks vs. Oakland Atheletics. It was nearly a close-out. 10-1. We met his bosses wife at the game and she insisted we ditch our seats & sit in the seats in front of them that they had purchased . So we were FRONT ROW BEHIND HO...
