And She's Alive!!!!!!

Greetings, friends! Yes, I am still alive. It has been busy lately!! Normally when you work a job where you do "3 on" and "4 off" ... you have chunks of days off. But for me lately, it's been more like 3 on, 1 off, 2 on, 1 off, 2 on, 2 off, etc.

So If I'm not working, sleeping, working out...I'm stocking our house with groceries, scrubbing floors when I get an hour, and finding time in the kitchen to COOK.

Holy crap, I miss cooking!! I still make dinner every night before I go in -so we stay healthy! But, it's not "Abby meals". It's more of ..."I threw a chicken breast in a pan with some seasoning, and we're going to throw it in a tortilla with some vegetables".....

I REFUSE TO EVER EVER EVER RESORT TO TAKE OUT OR PROCESSED FOOD.

So what else have we been up to?

  • Planning our garden! I have the NEXT 2 DAYS OFF - so I plan on picking out my seedlings. What's on board? : tomatoes, bell peppers, peas or green beans (?), sweet potatoes (?), olives, and an orange tree. And of course, flowers!
  • Doing crazy workouts together: (50 pushups, 50 pulls-ups, 50 sit ups, 20 jump-squats, 50 flutter kicks - REPEAT 5 times! Then run 4 miles.) I guarentee most will screw. Apparently it's a workout they use in the marines. Except they do it 10 times.
  • Found an incredible new hiking trail right by our house called "Romero Pools"! After 3 miles @ a very steep incline we were rewarded with fresh pools of water!
Well, here is my 10 on Tuesday for the week. Happy Fat Tuesday!

1. How did your parents decide on your name?

I'm not sure actually. I think my Mom told me once, but I forget.....

But I love my name!
2. Do your initials (First, Middle, Last) spell out anything fun/funny?
ALN - not really.

3. Did you take your middle name from childhood or did you take your maiden name as your middle name? (If unmarried, what do you plan to do?)
I like my middle name (Lea) - so don't think I'd let go of it!

Plus, (some may jump on me for saying this, saying I'm some submissive/mindless/wench) -- but I...me...(not you..this is MY OPINION) -- love the idea of completely taking my husband's name. So when I got married, my maiden name was only a part of who I am-- but not part of my legal name.
4. Are you or will you name your children thematically (ie. same first letter, all of same origin…)
No. No offense, but that can get creepy. I have a friend who came from a family where ALL the family (including like...extended) had names that started with J's. It's just creepy.
5. Did you decide on baby names as a little girl? Did you stick to them or change your mind?
No. When I was a little girl....boys had cooties and were severely diseased. And I did not think about having babies!

Still, to this day, I Don't have very "mature" choices for names I'd choose for my children.
For example, I would like to name my daughter Stacy. For its rhymes with my last name "Nastase".  Or Casey. How funny would that be? Hahaha....Stacy Nastase

Yes. Not very mature...

6. Does your family have any names that have been passed down through generations?
I don't believe so!
7. Do you look at the meaning of the name or just the name itself?
No. Abigail means "Joy". In fact, in somes interpretations it means "Joy of the father" (according to google)-- and I think there have been many moments in my life where I did not bring "Joy" to my Father. I think I brought more frustration & stress..

;)

8. Do you name pets with human names (Sally, Henry) or with pet names (Fluffy, Mr. Bo Bo)?
I don't do pets. We all know this.

9. Are there any names that you have an affinity or dislike for based on a childhood experience/someone you once knew?
Yes. Indeed. You betcha. There are names that when I hear them, I actually throw up a little. (okay, not really....but you get the point)
10. What are some of your favorite names? Why?
I love the name Ella. I also like the name Beth. I don't know why -- just do!

For boys...I don't know.

I'm so glad you like your name! Picking out a child's name is very difficult as it has to stay with you forever! We actually picked out your name by reading through lists of baby names. I do hope you change your choice of baby's names, though! Stacy Nastase is just not cool! But that's my opinion, huh? Your exercise routine sounds rough! Can you do al of that? Amazing! I also know why you like the name, Beth! She's your aunt! I'm so excited to hear all about your gardening experience! If I was going to plant a garden, it would be awhile as that area is under about 4 ft. of snow right now!

Man, you have quite the schedule right now. I am impressed by those work outs. I can only do 15 push-ups - and they are girl pushups... And I can do 0 pull ups. I am so weak. Right now, all I am doing is running. I know I should branch out, but running is 'comforting' for me and I am being pushed in so many other areas of my life, my work outs need to be a bit more 'comforting'. :)

My stomach hurts reading that exercise schedule.

Yikes.

I have always loved your name, since the day you were born.

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

Good things

I must say there are many good things I have to be happy about right now! I am in my psychiatric-mental health nursing rotation right now. I originally chose nursing as my major beause from the time I was like 12 I wanted to be a psych nurse. I love it so far. The clinicals are incredible. I am finding I am more organized and ahead of things in this class than I ever have been! Now, if I could be this motived with Critical Care and my Capstone this summer......:) Ryan and I got an entire day together yesterday!!!! This is rare. My spring break kind of sucked. He would leave at about 6 a.m., and not return until 8 p.m. The poor guy is spread too thin! So I cherish a day like yesterday! Which consisted of............. Spring Training baseball!!!!!! Diamondbacks vs. Oakland Atheletics. It was nearly a close-out. 10-1. We met his bosses wife at the game and she insisted we ditch our seats & sit in the seats in front of them that they had purchased . So we were FRONT ROW BEHIND HO...
