Taking a moment

It's a little crazy around our house right now. Okay, so it's really crazy. Thinking about these next 2 weeks gives me a little bit of an ulcer. But, it's exciting too! But, I will have to say these past few days I've been feeling a little "down-in-the-dumps". Not that I have anything to be sad about - I'm just a little overwhelmed!

Today Ryan has guard drill, and then flight lessons. (he's getting his private pilot lessons...so I'm counting down the days until he can take me up in the sky!)

So, I'm packing boxes whilst listening to Christmas jazz music today! And making my mom's Butternut Squash Soup recipe. Mmmm (soul-warming)

I got up with him this morning at 4:30 am ready to get things done!! I was prepared to tackle the world! It was while I was building boxes at about 5:30 that I asked myself, "What are you doing, you crazy woman". It just hit me that ...

Maybe I'm feeling frazzled, "down in the dumps", and *a little off* because I am EXHAUSTED.

So, I crawled back into bed. And slept extremely hard until 8. I don't remember the last time I slept in that late! I rolled back out of  bed (feeling much more refreshed), brewed myself a pot of coffee, turned on some music, and got back to packing.

In this time...I have found the following:

-$500 from wedding (that I never removed from the card)
-$50 worth of Target gift cards (from wedding & showers)
-$30 Bed, Bath, & Beyond gift card (from wedding....) ....are we seeing a pattern here?getting married in the middle of the semester during Nursing School = not a very organized bride
-A hand-written letter from my Mom that she gave me the day our moving truck left for Tucson. This brought me to tears :) (happy tears, of course)
-The 12 Thank-You Notes my husband wrote when he proposed to me back in July 2008. (more happy tears)

So, in these discoveries of:
-restful Saturday mornings
-"misplaced" gifts
-cherished letters

...I'm remembering that no matter how hectic things can be - It is essential to "take a moment".

It lifted my spirits!

Quite the day, I must say! Your Dad & I slept in until 8:30 this morning - yikes! But it felt "sooo good"! Hope your soup turns out. I just saw a recipe today for squash soup, and it said to add chopped celery with the onion when you cook it! I thought that sounded like a good idea!

Wow! Wish I could find my wedding cards! I could use those kinds of surprises right now!!!

Hang in there. Glad you were able to rejuvenate a little bit.

Moving and packing are never fun but once you get all settled it will be worth it! Plus, what a fun way for you and Ryan to ring in the year!
PS: Now you go on a shopping spree for new home essentials with your gift cards!

What a lucky accident that you didn't deposit the money/use the cards right after the wedding! Now you have a nice little amount you can spend on decorating/furnishing your new place!

Good for you for recognizing you were exhausted and going back to bed! You've had a very busy fall, filled w/ lots of changes & stress!

How fun to find all those little things that remind you that life is really good. And finding money like that? That's awesome!!
Aww yay :) don't worry, I got married in the summer with what can only be described as a part time job and I still could find gift cards around haha. Hope you make it through the next few weeks okay! Sleep should always be top priority :)

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

One Confused Lady

Yesterday morning was packed with a session of cross training.....rushed home to shower and get professional-looking....headed across town for an interview.....kicked butt at my interview...."bopped" over to our house to see the progress of the build......headed to the "design center" to sign more paperwork.... (Side note: I cannot get over just how much paperwork is involved in building a house. Holy Hannah. And we haven't even closed !!! Iy-yi-yi....Those lovely people in history who got law-suit-happy.....God bless 'em.) Yesterday was a good day! So here's a little humor for your Thursday. A little thought. A little depth.....( A little cynical rant ) Afterwards, I decided to head to one of my favorite places to peruse.... Target. But my experience at Target was far from fun, relaxing, or pleasant. Just confusing. Loud. Crazy. Despite many screaming children-temper tantrums.... Which is common and un-escapable. Although screaming chi...
