Thank God, October, from finally arriving!

It's time for my monthly update. If you sense a tinge of negativity in my voice today. You are detecting correctly! I'm not going to delve into the details of why. Just know that I want to fast forward through this phase of my life.

I know, you're all going to give me some life wisdom saying "You learn something from every phase of life. This will give you character".

Well, I dont feel very "characterized" right now. Just pissed worried, and stressed out.

I bet that was enjoyable annoying for you all to read my moaping. So, we'll move on to the October update!! :)

Current Book:

Currently I am just starting to read the book "Labor Day" - Joyce Maynard.

Current Food items: (because I have some odd eating habits...this deserve a category)
-Whole wheat rotini noodles with basil leaves and tomatoes. My food of choice before my long runs!
-Low Fat Cinnamon Graham crackers with milk. My favorite "bed time snack"
-Dried Papaya fruit.
-Apples. Yay for fall!
Current Frustration:
The job market. Being a "new grad". The fact that I don't have a clue of when or where I will be working in 2 weeks.

The 100+ temps.

Current Excitement
N/A.

Just kidding. (haha...) I will say (even though I'm not really excited about it). That I work my first 3 shifts as an RN next. But, it's just for a PRN(per diem) job. Just waiting for my hospital to decide what they're going to do with us! Oh, but the contract says they have 120 days.

Ryan gets home today finally from Florida. I'm ready. I haven't talked to anyone this week except for job interviewers, HR people, and the cashier at the grocery store.

Favorite Date Night of the Month
This month was kind of crazy! But my favorite date night was last weekend. We went to Tosh.O and out for drinks aftewards. We went with another couple -- it was a good time. Tosh.O is the most politically incorrect comedian -- I love it. I needed a good laugh!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3lNpulkWGw (here's the clip, but I will warn you.....it may be offensive to some?? Don't say I didn't warn you!)

Picture of the month:
I don't think I took any pictures this month, actually!
Best Movie of the Month:
-Grown Ups. I was in theaters this summer. Very cute. I recommend renting it when it comes out.

Goal for October:
1) To get a Full time normal job as an RN.
2) To survive my 1st 3 days next week as a nurse where I will have 35 patients. Wow.
3) To keep my head up. It's only October 1. So I'm allowed to make this a "work in progress. ;)
4) To try some new fall-recipes!

Coming up for the month:
-Starting the PRN job. Interview Monday. Hopefully hearing from my hospital.
-More UA football games! We had one almost every weekend in September -- and had a great time at every game.
-I will be getting my first niece any day now. Ryan's sister is days/moments away from bringing a beautiful, baby girl into this world!

Random things Wednesday

Greetings, everyone! Let's be honest, my life is lacking in "depth" right now. Therefore, I have no interesting subjects to blog about. Or funny stories to tell. Or crazy rants to release. However, I will fill you in a few things...

1) My flowers lasted through the entire summer of Tucson, AZ. I feel pretty darn proud of that. The crazy part is....summer isn't over yet. It was 98 today, it's supposed to be 102 tomorrow, and 100 Thursday. GO AWAY SUN! WE DON'T LIKE YOU ANYMORE!

Sorry for that.

I'm moving to Antactica. Or Oregon. Or Washington -- where it rains every day and the sun never shines.

Not really. We just bought a house in Oro Valley, AZ! (north of Tucson) - and we close January 13! We can't move, silly!;)

2) My husband sure has been traveling a lot for work. I think I need to join him. He's seen the beach twice now in the past 2 weeks. And he's going to see it again in 2 weeks. I'm envious! And it makes me realize how much I enjoy his company!

3) Biggest Loser is back. I love this show. I live vicariously through Jillian Michaels when she's screaming in these poor people's faces. Or sitting on them as they do core-holds. Or when she threatens to break their fingers.

However, my attention span only lasted through 30 minutes of the 2 HOUR LONG SHOW. Who has the care to watch people work out for 2 hours?!?!? A little ridiculous if you ask me...

4) We finally have TV back. We got rid of it when Direct TV pissed us off for the LAST time. But, we broke down after 3 weeks and bought an antennae. I'm quite pleased.

5) I re-entered the world of reading. To be honest, the last time I read for "pleasure" was before college. And it wasn't that pleasureable. But now I am loving it! I have my sister Lisa to thank for all her book reviews and recommendations!

6) I've been playing a lot of piano lately in the evenings. It's coming back to me!

7) It's only September and I'm already feeling the boredom from NFL & College football. And my husband isn't even that much of a sports fanatic. Thank you, God, for not letting him be a total sports guru.

8) I am so ready for October. September, you have not be very kind to me.

I'm Back! -- Ten on Tuesday

I've taking a little break from blogging for the past couple of weeks. My explanation to come at a later date.

But I see that the 10 on Tuesday is on positivity, nostalgia, happy, essential things. So, I decided to join! We can all use a little positive this Tuesday, right?! :-)

Here goes!

1. Growing up, what was one favorite item that you had to have with you at all times?
I never had an item that was crazy neccessary to have with me as a kid. I was a kid! As long as I was semi-entertained, I was happy. I guess if I were to pick something...I'd say -- someone to talk to. When I was a little one, I would talk and talk and talk and talk and tell stories for ever. I feel sorry for any victims of my childhood....;)

2. Being an adult, what is one favorite item that you have to have with you at all times, and what happens if you do not have it with you? Do you lose your sanity or just go back home to get it?
My crackberry, unfortunately. I am a slave to this thing. Especially right now! Waiting on important emails, phone calls, etc.....

Also, Hand Sanitizer. I won't go home and get it. That may be border-line OCD. But, I hate when I realize I left home without it! This world is such a germy place...

3. Where is your favorite place to be to just hide away from everything and breathe for a moment?
This is tough to choose one. I would love to say Ocean - but that's not realistic. I only see that like once/year.

So, I will say about 3 miles up Madera Canyon. A heart-pumping, good hike needs to precede this. Then there's this ridge of the mountain that overlooks the city of Tucson. It's heavenly. I got to experience that this past weekend, in fact!

Alos, there's a point within a long run that I get that feeling of peace. The world is light when I'm running.

4. What is your favorite thing about your partner? (If you don’t have a partner, then someone who is very close and will always be in your life)
He always knows how to make me feel better. I could be in the most depressed, sad, melancholy mood -- and he can cheer me up. His drive and motivation with life motivates me too :)

5. What is your favorite thing about your job? (If you don’t have a job, then what is your favorite thing that you do during your day?)
:'(
That's a touchy subject right now. But when I do have a job (which will be in a few weeks).....my favorite part about being a nurse is when there's time to get to know my patients and their family. If I can walk away at the end of the day and know I made that person feel a little better -- I've succeeded.

6. What is your favorite lesson that your parents taught you growing up? Looking back, is it something that you want to use to teach your children when they reach that age?
My parent's always taught me to stick to your roots, work hard, be honest, and trust God. I now am confident that if I always stick to those "simple" concepts -- life will be okay! I will definitely try to instill that in my children some day.

7. What is your favorite song, that will always bring a smile to your face and make you think of something happy?
"Uncle John's Band" - Grateful Dead (just because the song makes me happy)
"Everything" - Michael Buble (this was our 1st dance at our wedding)

8. What is your favorite things about being an American? (If you not American, what are you proud of in regards to your country)
I was born into a country where things do come far easier than it does in other countries. I feel safe in our country and trust the law enforcement. Although there are some corrupt events that occur within our country, it's nothing compared to the unrest in some of the 3rd world countries in our world.

We also lucked out in our "creatures of nature". Yes, there are tarantula's in the desert, plentiful mosquitos in Minnesota, and crocodiles in Florida -- but nothing compares to the crazy creatures you find in the Amazon! Just a random thought for your Tuesday...

9. What is your favorite meal that reminds you of being a child?
Macoroni & Ketchup. I always loved that as a kid. I still go to it for comfort when I'm having a rough day/week.

Also, pot roast and apple crisp. My Mom always made it on Saturdays or Sundays during the fall. The smells that they filled the house with was incredible.
10. Name 3 things that other people would say are their favorite thing about you.
-Sometimes I can be funny or at least get one to crack a smile.
-I tend to be pretty low-maintenance/low-drama
-My ability to run into peculiar/chaotic situations in life - which can always make someone else feel better about themselves ;) -- or create entertaining stories to tell when I'm in company.
