Weekly Review

The high of my week was Saturday night's party we attended. My husband's work had a "farewell" party for 3 guys that are leaving. It was a great time!

The low of my week was... getting a parking ticket Friday night on my way home running errands. I was on the phone, not paying attention, thought that the meters stopped at 5 pm, but it turns out they stopped at 6 pm. I parked my car at 5:40p, was back in my car at 6:05p. $65 ticket....

My favorite outfit was I don't have a picture, but the dress I wore to the party last night. I bought it on a whim this week. Tuesday night we had dinner plans to meet a friend for his son's birthday. In my last hour @ work, I spilled coffee on my white shirt. So had to find something quick.

I found the cutest brown and white A-line sundress.

For my workouts, I completed:
Monday - Lifted weights - did a tough shoulder workout! And ran 4 miles
Tuesday - Ran 7.5 miles with my girlfriends
Wednesday - Lifted arms - and did plylometrics (ie box jumps, jump squats) for 15 minutes
Thursday - Rested - just took Miles on a good long walk in the evening
Friday - Push-ups & Pull ups for 15 minutes and spin class!
Saturday - 11 mile trail run at Catalina State Park with my girls

Here we are at Starbucks after our run!

Sunday - cycled 40 miles with my friend Amanda.

What I cooked - My best cooking was my crockpot meal. I put 2 chicken breasts, 1 cup fresh green beans, a few baby red potatoes, and 1/2 red onion in the crock pot. Poured lemon juice, olive oil, salt & pepper over it. Simmered on low all day. It was perfect!

The best money I spent was tickets to Miami in October to spend the weekend with my Mom & sisters for our girls' trip we take every 2 years. I originally wasn't going to be able to do this trip, but was able to get the vacation time approved and make some arrangements! I'm so happy!

My plans this weekend included:

Friday - Quiet night for me as Ryan had plans Took Miles for a walk and spent time reading :)
Saturday - Trail run followed by Starbucks with my Desert Tri Girls. Brunch with 2 other girlfriends. Cleaned house. Did some shopping for upcoming birthdays. And the party for Ryan's work!
Sunday - Cycled 40 miles, baking a birthday "treat" (a giant pizookie) for my friend Amanda, and going to a pool party!

What were your week highlights??

ouch that's a hefty parking ticket :( but otherwise it sounds like a pretty great week! yay for being able to arrange a vacation with your family!
Oh my gosh, that is such an expensive parking ticket! I would have been SO PISSED! I hate situations like that because you now it's avoidable but sometimes human error happens. That is such a hefty price for a ticket, though! Ufda! :P

I am SO HAPPY that you are coming to Miami with us! It just would not have been the same without you. I'm glad we are making these girls trips happen! I can't wait to explore Miami!!

The highlights of my week were being officially done with my job, having a relaxing afternoon on Friday to celebrate being done with my job, going to a wedding with Phil, and going out to dinner last night with Phil to celebrate being done with my job and starting a new one!

You had a great weekend, it appears! I would love to see a picture of you in your new dress! That is an insane price for a parking ticket - GADFREY!!! I got a speeding ticket in Breckenridge last week and it was $145! It really pissed me off as I had crossed the bridge and thought the speed limit had increased. Should have taken the bypass instead. I HATE tickets!
We went to a dinner play on Saturday night with Joel & Sharon at Elmer's Rib House and they have built a screened in pavilion to have the show. It was a vaudeville style and quite funny! The meal was great with barbequed ribs, chicken & pulled pork, with scalloped potatoes, coleslaw, cornbread muffins, and apple crisp piled with ice cream and drizzled with caramel. I had to skip quite a bit of the food being I am on a new diet and didn't want to blow it!
We had a storm at the lake before we left which was not fun to watch but we made it through without damage! Your dad retrieved some dock sections that blew off and the kayak floated off but lodged up against the neighbors dock so didn't lose that either! The pontoon lift looked bent but was only bent at the hinges and your Dad straightened it out, so all is well! My flower pots look a bit frazzled but hope they pull out of it! It is July and storms predicted all week!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith

8 Months

Well, I missed month 1-8. But it is never too late to begin, right? Here is a recap of Maddy at 8 months. (I'm totally stealing this idea from my sister, Lisa. I thought it was so neat that she recaps her son's favorites and happenings every month)   How am I sleeping? Better than I was - but not as good as my peers. It also depends on if I'm teething. Last week, her 2nd tooth was poking through - so she was awake 3 times.  No matter how much I let her cry it out, I cannot seem to cut down her feedings. When I go in there - she is literally pulling at my shirt with her mouth wide open. So clearly she's hungry.  She eats 2 times/night and luckily goes right back to sleep. It is what it is. What am I eating? While we have had breastfeeding and bottle refusal struggles - I am so glad that taking to food as been relatively smooth. We are doing baby led weaning, and Maddy really enjoys most every food I've given her.  Her favorite foods are scrambled eggs, apples, and c

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for
