Fargonian Adventures

Greetings from Fargo! "Dontcha know" we have been in Fargo since April 9?

I have been a bit absent from here. Here is my list of excuses:
1. No one reads this blog.
2. It's been kind of busy.
3. By the time I finish my day of work where I'm staring at a computer screen for 9 hours in my work from home office, I don't want to look at another screen.
4. Everytime I think about posting a blog, I don't even know where to begin :D

So what have I been up to?

Well, for one, trying to stay warm. It hasn't been the best weather here in Fargo. But I'm not letting that stop me from enjoying myself. And I really soak up the beautiful days.

Work has been quite busy. I don't tend to talk much about that part of my life these days. I'm feeling strained, and while I'm working or thinking about working - my stomach hurts. So let's focus on the fun things in life!

Wedding Fun:
Love has been in the air in my family. My sister got married this past week. Blog post to come on that! What an event. What a month, really. I thank God every day that I get to be in the Midwest during this time to be able to attend and be a part of her shower, her bachelorette party, and the wedding festivities!

I was lucky enough to get to "steal the bride" aka "Bride-chilla" (instead of "Bride-zilla" - because she was super calm and at ease on her wedding day) the morning of the big day. We ran from downtown Minneapolis, past the beautiful church she got married at, and along the Mississippi river!

Sibling Photo! I love my siblings - so fiercely! There's a lot of us, eh? 5 siblings - but I count my in-laws as my siblings. I am super close with my sister in laws, and my sister's picked some pretty awesome men to marry as well! I got a new "brother" last weekend, and am so excited to get to know him better. He is a great guy! And hilarious.

Lake time:
We are just 1 hr 15 minutes from my parents' lake home. So just about every weekend while we are here, we plan on spending the weekend there! It hasn't been exactly "lake weather" yet - but we still have found some time for boating, kayaking, and I ever got out on the paddle board 2 weekends ago! (I just prayed hard that I would not fall in LOL)

1st fish of the season! My 2 favorite men in the whole wide world: Husband and Father. Good guys.

Running:

I have been finding all the great places to run in Fargo and at the lakes! Every Thursday morning, I run with a local run club - and am meeting some of the nicest people! I also enjoy running along the Red River, as there are miles of trails to keep me busy. It is so peaceful along the river.

I run on this path about 1-2 days/week. It's so quiet!! Hoping for it to warm up better soon, so I can get my bike out here! It's just been too windy and cold for cycling. (For me, anyhow...)

This is a run in did while staying with my sister in Minneapolis: my favorite place EVER to run! Cannot wait to return in September to run a half marathon together!

Snapshots of Glendalough State Park. This place is truly a hidden gem!

At the lakes, I have enjoyed Glendalough State Park. Another great running venue with paved and off-road trails to enjoy!

I'm really trying to soak up every day we have here. As I know October 1 will come fast. I do miss our friends in AZ with all my heart - and our house and our garden. (And perhaps the sunshine....)

But, I am just really loving this time. My heart is very full.

So I'll leave you with my favorite quote that sums out my belief on life....

You're back! I love to read your blog and see the pictures. It has been an amazing time having you and Ryan so close, and I, too, agree that the weather has been deplorable this spring! I am so ready for more than two consecutive days of warmth and for the winds to die down! I peaked at the forecast and it is actually going to be in the 80's at the end of next week! I can hardly wait!
I am happy that you have found some good people to run with as it makes the time go so much faster, and a great way to connect with the locals.
But the best is just having family time again! That is so precious to my heart!
This spring has been AWFUL!! I hope that means we get an awesome summer instead. In general spring is one of my least favorite seasons because it's cold and damp here. Hope warmer weather arrives soon

It's been such a blessing to have you close since April. I am so glad you could partake in all the pre wedding festivities. It would not have been the same without you here!! Can't wait for your wedding recap!!!

You have really been filling your time at home with so much family time and fun! Love that you're making the most of this special summer closer to loved ones :) Hopefully the weather improves soon!! We had a very long winter up here but the last few weeks have been BEAUTIFUL. I got sunburnt last weekend. I love summer!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for

8 Months

Well, I missed month 1-8. But it is never too late to begin, right? Here is a recap of Maddy at 8 months. (I'm totally stealing this idea from my sister, Lisa. I thought it was so neat that she recaps her son's favorites and happenings every month)   How am I sleeping? Better than I was - but not as good as my peers. It also depends on if I'm teething. Last week, her 2nd tooth was poking through - so she was awake 3 times.  No matter how much I let her cry it out, I cannot seem to cut down her feedings. When I go in there - she is literally pulling at my shirt with her mouth wide open. So clearly she's hungry.  She eats 2 times/night and luckily goes right back to sleep. It is what it is. What am I eating? While we have had breastfeeding and bottle refusal struggles - I am so glad that taking to food as been relatively smooth. We are doing baby led weaning, and Maddy really enjoys most every food I've given her.  Her favorite foods are scrambled eggs, apples, and c
