Ten on Tuesday

Here is my Ten on Tuesday. Yet another list of random questions. They are fun for me to do -- don't feel obliged to read!

1. What are some of your family traditions?
Dotzenrod family - I must agree with my sister -- Christmas Eve is so full of amazingness in my family! Oyster stew (even though I don't eat it), tons of crab/shrimp/seafood, sardines (probably my favorite), lots of family, and just an all around amazing time! Words cannot explain how happy I am to be able to get Christmas with my family this year!

My new family (with Ryan) tradition -- Valentines Day. We celebrate it a day early! It's b/c we are just so excited to celebrate our love.

Okay, so really it began 2 years ago when we both had a test that week and needed to be spending V-Day buried at the library. So we had our day of love on the 13th. It was great! Restaurants aren't packed, and it's just ... different! :)

2. Do you know how to change a flat tire?
Why, yes I do! I cry, get on my phone and call Ryan, cry some more in dramatic burst of tears, and then call AAA if the husband is unable to assist.

Then I get lectured by the husband on how to change a tire. I assure understanding. And then forget within a week.

Yeah, I don't know how.

3. Do you subscribe to any magazines? What are your favorites?
Women's Health & Fitness -- I subscribe to them and they're always my favorites (along with Runner's world).

I have to laugh at my love for mag's, however. They're all kind of the same: "How to get a great butt!, How to lose ten pounds in 3 weeks! How to go organic on a budget! 10 great moves for great abs" But I still enjoy.

4. What are your top three favorite office supply items? (If you don’t share the love of office supplies with me or if you are male, you may skip this question.)
1. My Triple-hole punch. (normally, when I talk about this -- I use a nice lisp to exaggerate my nerdy love for this little tool)
2. My white board calendar. I have 2 white boards on our fridge. One is a calendar of a monthly overview, the other is a plain white board that breaks down each daily schedule for Ryan & I. I love it. Can't live without it.
3. The little post-it tabs that mark pages!

5. Are you a good public speaker?
I used to be! I was a huge speech geek in high school. It was seriously my favorite activity from high school, and I got so much out of it. Now it's been so long since I have done public speaking, and it makes me sad. I truly believe that "If you don't use it, You lose it!"

6. How do you feel about acronyms?
Depends on my state of knowledge. When I know acronyms -- I love jargon. However, I think it goes too far. If you have a sentence that the only real words are conjunctions -- you have a problem.

7. What’s the most creative things you’ve ever done? (Bloggers, feel free to include pictures!)
Hahaha -- I am not a creative person.

Wrote a song on the trombone? That's about the extent.

8. I’d rather jam a pen in my eye than…

-Eat a "Sonora Dog".
Have you heard of these? I hadn't until I moved to Tucson. A description to familiarize you:
-A hot dog/beef dog/cat dog (whatever), wrapped in fried bacon, and then further dipped in butter/lard/and fat garnished with taco-toppings.
.........pause, as Abby runs to the nearest trashcan and vomits in disgust.......

-Do the people serving these at their cheapo stands on the street even wash their hands? Keep the "meat" sanitary? Clean the grills??

Ew! Why don't you just manually clog my arteries and give me a Myocardial Infarction.

9. What company has the best advertising?
Starbucks impresses me.
Any pharmaceutical company too. They actually make society self-diagnose themselves with illnesses/ailments.

10. When is your birthday?
February 27

You guys are smart to celebrate Vday early. Eating out on the actual day is kind of miserable. not that I've ever been taken out for dinner on Vday - because I haven't. But I know this from all those years of working Vday at Whitey's!!

I love these 10 questions. And yah, that Sonora Dog sounds DISGUSTING!

I think it's brilliant of you to celebrate V-day a day early! I always joke that everyday is Valentine's Day, when you're married to Chris Nastase. (I know, gag!)

Lol @ the Sonoran Hot Dog. Don't knock it til you've tried it! It does have bacon on it, as well as black beans, cheese, onions, jalapenos and sour cream. I've never seen one fried or with butter on it. (Not that the omission of butter/lard makes it much healthier for you!) Mmmm...a guilty pleasure.

Abby, you crack me up in so many ways! It's fun to read your blogs as I miss having you home and hearing you rant on about things that disgust you! {sans - sonora dogs!] Oh, the memories of your high school years make me chuckle! Your Dad is just so quiet and calm that it is just too quiet around home without you kids!
Soon enough the rooms will be filled! Such joy and anticipation!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith

8 Months

Well, I missed month 1-8. But it is never too late to begin, right? Here is a recap of Maddy at 8 months. (I'm totally stealing this idea from my sister, Lisa. I thought it was so neat that she recaps her son's favorites and happenings every month)   How am I sleeping? Better than I was - but not as good as my peers. It also depends on if I'm teething. Last week, her 2nd tooth was poking through - so she was awake 3 times.  No matter how much I let her cry it out, I cannot seem to cut down her feedings. When I go in there - she is literally pulling at my shirt with her mouth wide open. So clearly she's hungry.  She eats 2 times/night and luckily goes right back to sleep. It is what it is. What am I eating? While we have had breastfeeding and bottle refusal struggles - I am so glad that taking to food as been relatively smooth. We are doing baby led weaning, and Maddy really enjoys most every food I've given her.  Her favorite foods are scrambled eggs, apples, and c

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for
