Ten on Tuesday!

1. If you could travel back in time, would you? What decade would you visit?

I would. I think I'd visit the 50's, just for a week - for it'd probably get really old. Sometimes... I just want to wear cute house dresses and aprons. And the only care in the world would be cooking and cleaning and being an all-star housewife.

2. What was your best Halloween costume? (fun to make? most creative?)
Probably the clown costumes my Mom sewed when I was young. They were amazing.

Also, an occasion in college when all the girls hit the frats dressed up as sexy nurses, naughty cops, and other profanities....I taped purple balloons all over my body and went as a "Bunch of Grapes".

Classy.

3. Do you like your name? If you weren't called by your name, what would you want to be called?
I would love my name. But everyone seems to think it's cool to name their dogs Abby these days too. I know so many people who are like "Your name is Abby? Oh cool! That's my Border York Terriers name." (I don't know if that's an actual dog, but it sounded good) I'm not a "dog person", as we know.

I would love to have a really unique name like Ingrid or Eva.

4. In the past year, what is the BEST recipe you made. Please share it!
Hmm...probably my stew or a roast I've made. Or this Teryaki Lime Steak recipe. I am too lazy to type up the recipe, and to be honest -- I couldn't tell you the measurements. But it had a nice combo of Fresh limes, soy sauce, honey, onions, green & yellow peppers, and steak. It marinated overnight and was quite delicious!

5. Look around - what is the nearest object or picture hanging on the wall?
I have a frame on the wall that says "I am like a falling star who has finally found their place next to another in a lovely constellation". I got it from my Mom for a bachelorette party gift - it's very cute and fitting in our house! :)

6. What was the last movie you saw in the theater? Would you recommend it?
Valentine's Day. I definitely recommend it -- very cute show!

I'm so anti-movie theater now. I heard they're going to jack up the prices even more. I am so not into spending $30 to sit in an uncomfortable chair, listening to people's phones going off, smelling popcorn, to watch a movie that I may not even like!

7. Did you go to summer camp? Will you/do you send your kids to camp?
I went to Band Camp for 4 years, and absolutely loved it. Some of my best memories of that age were of camp - and I still keep in contact with some of my friends.

I think sending your kids to camp is a great idea. Especially if they go to a small school. It gets them out of their "box" and forces kids to meet new people! It's almost a mini-taste-of-college (at a young age).

8. What kind of ringtone do you have?
"Fidelity" - Regina Specktor. I always have a song, and sometimes I will try picking the most ridiculous songs purposely. This song was chosen purely to make me smile whenever my phone rings. However, I never hear it b/c phone is nearly always silenced or on vibrate.

9. Where is the farthest away from home you have ever been?
Coming to Tucson was the farthest from "ND home". I haven't left the continent yet!

10. Has anyone ever written a song or a poem for or about you?
Ugh. Unfortunately yes. In high school, a kid wrote multiple songs about me. In fact, multiple tapes were placed in my locker on Valentines Day. So creepy. Gross.

Oh my gosh, who wrote a song for you! I must know! That is hilarious!

I didn't know you still kept in touch with some of your band camp friends! That is great! And I didn't realize you went 4 years! Wow!

I agree about going back to the fifties, how cool would that be? I also think it's cool that you stay in contact with your band camp friends, it was obviously a great experience for you!

I remember the tape episode - and it was sort of cute at first but got totally out of hand! I hope he doesn't read your blog because he meant it so deeply! Actually, they were pretty neat for a young man of his age, don't you think? And you did love "band camp"! We got tired of driving all that way so sent you on the train a few times! Lisa, I know you took that route once or twice, too!

Oh, one more thing! I hated my name, too, until I started having children and realized how difficult that job is! It's harder than giving birth, so hopefully one day you will experience this, too, and understand.

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for

8 Months

Well, I missed month 1-8. But it is never too late to begin, right? Here is a recap of Maddy at 8 months. (I'm totally stealing this idea from my sister, Lisa. I thought it was so neat that she recaps her son's favorites and happenings every month)   How am I sleeping? Better than I was - but not as good as my peers. It also depends on if I'm teething. Last week, her 2nd tooth was poking through - so she was awake 3 times.  No matter how much I let her cry it out, I cannot seem to cut down her feedings. When I go in there - she is literally pulling at my shirt with her mouth wide open. So clearly she's hungry.  She eats 2 times/night and luckily goes right back to sleep. It is what it is. What am I eating? While we have had breastfeeding and bottle refusal struggles - I am so glad that taking to food as been relatively smooth. We are doing baby led weaning, and Maddy really enjoys most every food I've given her.  Her favorite foods are scrambled eggs, apples, and c
