Weekend Recap!

This is the last week where my mind feels...simplified. For next Monday at this time I will be in clinicals eithe rin the ER or the ICU - Critical Care starts, and I am t-e-r-r-i-f-i-e-d!! I'm just not the ER type of gal. We'll see, though....

I had a great weekend though! During the week, Ryan & I kind of turn into robots! So when we get a weekend together - it is wonderful! So this weekend I.........

  • Got a great score on my Psych-nursing ATI test. Which really isn't that big of a deal "grade-wise" - but is indication that I will do well on my boards! So it makes me happy :-)
  • Did a "trial run" on some of the food we'll be cooking for the grad-party. I made: shredded chicken, cilantro-lime black beans, and guacamole! Turned out fabulous!
  • Did an 8 mile run. I love long runs when I'm not training for something - I can just breath and enjoy!
  • Watched the sunrise Saturday morning prior to my run on our deck! I am loving AZ right now, sun comes up at about 5:40 am! (I'm weird, mornings give me a high)
  • Made Taboulleh salad for the 1st time ever. Amazing. Highly recommend it! Great for a light lunch.
  • Went out for Sushi at Ra - our favorite restaurant!
  • Ordering a drink with dinner, and had to send it back asking for more diet coke. The waiter laughed at me, and said this rarely happens. I guess it's proof of how much of a "party-animal" I am not!
  • While picking weeds in our backyard, I found more cigarrette-butts from the neighbor. (Grrrrr)
  • We took a trip to the gym after mass yesterday and lifted weights together , and now sitting/standing is very difficult for both of us!
  • Layed out our deck and soaked up the sun!
  • Enjoyed an all-grilled dinner last night outdoors (picture below)
  • Had a lovely campfire - which is the most nostalgic smell ever!!!
  • I dominated Ryan in Scrabble. This occurs rarely - he usually beats me. So I now get bragging rights for a while! :)
Grilled sweet potatoes, red peppers/onions, pinapple, and steak!
This is my new favorite way to eat sweet potatoes: boil for about 10 minutes until slightly tender, season with fresh parsley/sea salt/pepper/oregano, and grill for about 10 minutes!

Your food looks delish! It is making me hungry - but it's almost supper time so no wonder! Sounds like you had a fab weekend! Can't believe you get a high from early mornings - you've changed so much since high school when I was lucky to get you up by 11 am on Saturdays! Good luck with ER or ICU nursing - you may be surprised to find out you like it! We'll see!

Ha - I had to send a drink back and ask for more diet coke when we went out for Brooke's birthday in December. I got a lot of crap for it but it was so dang strong! YOu could pretty much see through the drink!

Good luck w/ Critical Care. I am sure you will do great!

One Confused Lady

Yesterday morning was packed with a session of cross training.....rushed home to shower and get professional-looking....headed across town for an interview.....kicked butt at my interview...."bopped" over to our house to see the progress of the build......headed to the "design center" to sign more paperwork.... (Side note: I cannot get over just how much paperwork is involved in building a house. Holy Hannah. And we haven't even closed !!! Iy-yi-yi....Those lovely people in history who got law-suit-happy.....God bless 'em.) Yesterday was a good day! So here's a little humor for your Thursday. A little thought. A little depth.....( A little cynical rant ) Afterwards, I decided to head to one of my favorite places to peruse.... Target. But my experience at Target was far from fun, relaxing, or pleasant. Just confusing. Loud. Crazy. Despite many screaming children-temper tantrums.... Which is common and un-escapable. Although screaming chi...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for...
