Ten on Tuesday

I am so happy this Tuesday is over. I really think that God put a sign up in the sky today that said "World, you're goal is to work as hard as possible to break Abby down. Really tear and rip at her, and don't stop until she cries."

It was just non-stop. But, a rough day ended out great in the long run - and was a learning experience. Sometimes, we need to remember that we can't solve all the problems in the world. And, crying is okay sometimes. Even though I like to be "Always smilin' Ice Woman".....

But here 10 on Tuesday! Before I start reiging in the pity party...

1. Do you prefer markers, crayons, or colored pencils?

Definitely markers. To be specific - the scented markers. Mm....remember those? My favorites were brown (cinnamon), yellow (lemon), and red (cherry). Mmmm.....

2. As a child, how did your parents celebrate your birthday? (Parties, cake, you pick the dinner, etc.)
They always came into my room early in the morning before they headed off to work - and sang happy birthday. Then I'd run upstairs, open presents, and eat breakfast before school. I always got to pick out my favorite meal and we'd have a family dinner. I always had a birthday party with my school-friends too.
3. How do you feel about leggings?
Under-armour leggings are great for running in the cold! I also like wearing them under my scrubs. Yep. Kinda like the "compression stalkings" that are stereotyped for the elderly. I use them on days where I'm on my feet for 12 hours straight! I don't want those varicose veins - so circulation is a must!!!!!

Fashionably, I'm not a big fan of leggings on myself. I think some people look cute in them. I feel aboslutely ridiculous and silly in them.

4. How do you prefer to follow directions? With a map? Words?
Definitely words. Lists, in fact. I don't do maps. I'm not a visual person, I am a list person. And don't try talking me through directions either. I don't listen and drive concurrently....
5. What do you eat for snacks?
Apples (granny smith, to be specific), lemons, frozen peaches (thawed out), cucumbers, and carrot sticks. I eat snacks frequently and rarely go anywhere without them! Also, good hearty granola bars are life-savers for me on some days!

6. Have you ever ordered anything from an infomercial or bought any As Seen on TV products?
No I haven't, and I don't really see myself ever doing it. In fact, when I see something advertisedon those infomercials -I feel as if it's been discounted because it's on an infomercial.

However, I do own a Magic Bullet. And Ryan got one of those "Sham-Wows!". I am not sure how "wowed" I am by it at this point.....................

7. What’s your favorite thing about summer?
Days of all-outdoors. Where you come inside in the evening and your cheeks are sun-kissed, eyes burn, and your just drainnnned from the fresh air!!! I love days of waking up, putting on a swimming suit, and wearing it all day. Love fresh batches of iced tea with lemon. Home-made slushes. All-grilled meals. Mojitos. The sound of crickets. Monsoon season (here in AZ) and the excitement of the big storm rolling in (we have the best lightning EVER)!!!

8. Do you have a tattoo? What and where is it?
No tatoo. And once again, never will. Thank God. I'm absolutely terrified of tatoos. HIV! Hepatitis! Ahhh!! Scary. Painful. No thanks.

9. Are you good at journaling?
Nope. Terrible. I have tried starting journals and have been quite unsuccessful. I feel like I've writing papers all day, and the last thing I want to do at the end of the day is write more......This blog is my substitution for a journal - and some day I can look back at the archives of my life....

10. What’s your favorite way to eat a hamburger?
Okay, this probably doesn't count as a hamburger. But, my little secret is ..... when I go to a barbeque, I make sure no one looking - and I build my burger of the following: Bun, pickles, lettuce, tomato, more pickles, a few more pickles, saturated in ketchup & mustard galore!!!!! There is NO SUCH THING as "too much ketchup & mustard" (unless you're like...a diabetic. Then too much ketchup is bad)

Oops! I forgot the meat. Whooops......

On the side from that -we experimented this weekend. And I made turkey burgers. Instead of a bun, I put it on a portabello mushroom cap - and grilled it. YUM!!!!!!! I highly recommend this delicacy!

Comments

I can't believe you skip the burger!!! Oh how i adore a good grilled burger!! :)

Hope today is a better day for you!!

Next time we're at a family barbeque, I'm keeping my eye on you as you build your pickle ketchup sandwich!!! Funny!

I totally forgot about those scented markers! Those three flavours were really nice, you're right.

I know what you mean about infomercials. I've never bought anything from one, because it mostly seems like a waste of money. I do have a snuggie, but someone gave it to me. I actually enjoyed using it while typing my thesis on my laptop this (very cold) winter.

I agree! A burger isn't a burger without the burger! But the turkey burger does sound good!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith

8 Months

Well, I missed month 1-8. But it is never too late to begin, right? Here is a recap of Maddy at 8 months. (I'm totally stealing this idea from my sister, Lisa. I thought it was so neat that she recaps her son's favorites and happenings every month)   How am I sleeping? Better than I was - but not as good as my peers. It also depends on if I'm teething. Last week, her 2nd tooth was poking through - so she was awake 3 times.  No matter how much I let her cry it out, I cannot seem to cut down her feedings. When I go in there - she is literally pulling at my shirt with her mouth wide open. So clearly she's hungry.  She eats 2 times/night and luckily goes right back to sleep. It is what it is. What am I eating? While we have had breastfeeding and bottle refusal struggles - I am so glad that taking to food as been relatively smooth. We are doing baby led weaning, and Maddy really enjoys most every food I've given her.  Her favorite foods are scrambled eggs, apples, and c

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for
