Ten on Tuesday

I am still alive. The past week or so has been INSANE -as graduation is approaching. It doesn't feel real at all. This is kind of a fitting 10 questions - since yesterday I took my Comprehensive ATI (which is kind of like a mock NCLEX) and finshed ALL THINGS school!

1. Where did you go to college?

Grand Canyon University. The actual university is in Phoenix, AZ - and to be honestly I've only actually been on the campus one time. My nursing program was held here in Tucson at the 3rd floor of the Art Institute! Random, huh?

My 1st 2 years of college were at UND in Grand Forks, ND.

I also spent 1 semester between UND and GCU at Pima community college. Not by choice. I had to take these Biblical and Liberal arts classes for prerequisites to get into the nursing program. Not my finest semester. In fact, it was miserable. I cried almost every day I had to go to that school - it was scary.
2. What did you study?
Nursing! But this is the track that led me to nursing.

Music Eduation (for 2 weeks of my freshman year), and then Occupational Therapy, and finally Nursing!

3. Was college really all that it was cracked up to be?
I think so....... I had kind of a non-traditional college experience with moving across the country midway. I don't feel like my 20 months of nursing school was "college".

I don't regret one moment of it, though! :)

4. How far were you from home?
About 1000 miles. 1-2 days of driving or 4 hours flying!

When I was at UND I was a 2 hour drive from home. I definitely missed that luxury when I moved to Tucson.

5. Did you have the same roommate all four years?
Nope! I lived in dorms, a sorority, an apartment, and then I got married after my 3rd year!!
6. Where did you order food from at 2am?
I never ordered food at 2am.To be honest, I never stayed out that late! I was always the girl who had his internal "curfew" that said, "I need to be back to my dorm/apartment/house at this time so I can get a good night of rest"

Especially my last 2 years - I think there was only 1 instance where I even stayed up until 2 am......

7. Did you date in college or were you tied down?
My 1st year I didn't date at all. But my 1st week of my sophomore year I started dating Ryan!
8. Funniest drunk college moment?
My 21st birthday. My parents suprised me and visited me on my 21st birthday (best gift EVER)! I ordered 2 drinks, and got our whole table kicked out of the restaurant by 9:00 pm for being too loud with my stories. I was in bed by 10......

9. Did you make it to class on time?
Yes. I'm like clock work. If class starts at 8:00 am -- I was in my chair at 7:59 am.
10. What was your favorite class in college?
I loved Complex Care which was this year. I had an excellent teacher with so much experience - and I loved the clinicals.

I also loved Anatomy Lab my freshman year! We got to work with human cadavers - which was really cool!

It was rare for me to be up at 2 am as well... I didn't go out on the weekends much since I usually waitressed on Friday & Saturday nights. So if I was coming home at 1 am, it was because I closed at work!

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for...

ABC

We are home from a wonderful, extended-weekend-getaway to Omaha. It was filled with family, relaxations, and greatness. I will do a more detailed recap on it soon! In the meantime, I'm doing this ABC bit that I stole from my cousin 's blog! Also, no -- I did not get switched to days. Trust me, I would've told the entire world and screamed it from roof-tops if I did. A. Age: 22, but that will change on Sunday. B. Bed size: King C. Chore you dislike: Cleaning the shower - especially dealing with hard-water stains. Lime away=ouch D. Dogs: Really really really really really dislike. Really dislike. Sorry. I could do a post in itself about my dislike for canines. E. Essential start to your day: Bowl of oatmeal/or cereal with bananas. Or fruit F. Favorite color: Greeen G. Gold or silver: Definitely silver. H. Height: 5'4'' - Sometimes I lie & say 5'5''. Some people lie about their weight, age, haircolor...I lie about my height. I...

30 Blogs: Something I'm Afraid of

This isn't a very difficult post for me to write about. I am such a "scaredy cat" about so many things. I could quite possibly turn this into a book. I was also the kid that wouldn't go on the monkey bars at school, out of fear that my arms may be ripped out of their sockets. I was the kid who got to the end of the diving board, and then shriveled into a ball at the end shaking in tears. I got to the top-climax spot on a roller coaster, and start saying "Oh my God, get me off this thing. I don't want to do it anymore! Get me off this thing!!" Then I went college, and majored in nursing. I leanred all the horrible ways one can reach multi-system organ failure. If I have too much coffee, and feel maybe the slightest heart palpitation - I am listening to my heart sounds with my stethoscope......... So here's my list of irrational some fears. ;) (some of these may be comical & pathetic to you):\ Heights Vomit (I've gotten better about th...
