Ten on Tuesday!

1. What keeps you up at night? (figuratively)
Sick worry about never being hired full time as an RN. Fear that my hospital will just never contact me.

2. What keeps you up at night? (literally)
Well, I literally don't sleep well at night due to this fear. So I often find myself up walking around, thinking I'm going to be physically sick at about 1:30 am, 3 am, 4:30 am, 4:45 am, until I finally just get out of bed. It's like clock work. But hey, last night I only woke up 3 times -- so I'm making improvements!

Besides this little phase-o-hell.....nothing keeps me up at night! A train could come bursting through our bedroom and I wouldn't know.
3. Where do you want to go in life? (figuratively)
I want my career to be fulfilling. (Right now it's hard to ever give a damn about a fulfilling career..I just want a career.) I hope that in 15 years I can list of all the areas of nursing I've placed my footsteps within, and be a "go-to-gal" for areas of clinical expertice. I hope to be a nurse practitioner OR manage a unit within a hospital.
I wish for my marriage to continue to be such a happy, fulfilling, and amazing one :)
4. Where do you want to go in life? (literally)
To a quaint little cabin up in the mountains with Ryan where there's snow and a fireplace -- where we can hike, may do some skiing, sip coffee with Bailey's in it, and cook delicious meals, and just spend time together!! Just for a few days -- that's all I ask!

To see my family -- and I will in November which is coming soon! Yay!
5. Have you ever bit off more than you could chew? (figuratively)
I don't think I've hit that point yet. I mean, I've had short little moments in life where I felt overwhelmed.

We'll see how I feel Thursday when I'm caring for 35 patients... as a new grad.

That may be a moment where I say "I've bit off more than I can chew...." We shall see!

6. Have you ever bit off more than you could chew? (literally)
Yes. On my second date with Ryan in fact. We had gone for a lonnng run together - and decided to hit up a Mongolian grill for dinner back in my sophomore year in college.
....We got to the point where it's time to choose your 'sauce'. I, being "tough girl", took the spiciest one. Ryan warned me saying, "Um. I'd recommend doing something a little less intense. That's like, really insanely spicy."

But I'm stubborn, and persisted.

I took my first big bite (I was starrrving). And he was right! It was so hot I was in tears. I had to actually run to the bathroom and spit it out. I started coughing the heat was so intense.

So much for being "tough"....

7. Is the grass really greener on the other side of the fence? (figuratively)
No. Unless you look at it as though it is. See, in Tucson we don't have grass. So it's definitely not greener. Unless your neighbor has turf (which many people do around here)

You can always look at parts of someone else's life or situations and say, "They have it so much better"

However, often times you don't know the whole picture and need to look at your own blessings.
8. Is the grass really greener on the other side of the fence? (literally)
Yes. We don't have grass - we have rocks. Our neighbor spends probably 6 hours/week re-seeding, re-sodding, watering, primping his grass. So his grass is greener.
9. If you can’t stand the heat, do you get out of the kitchen? (figuratively)
I usually get out of the kitchen. I tend to feel safer walking on egg-shells around certain situations/people than facing them. I try to avoid "heat"/drama/conflict as much possible. It usually works out quite well! :)
10. If you can’t stand the heat, do you get out of the kitchen? (literally)
Yes. Whenever I set off the fire alarms in our kitchen I go into the living room and start fanning the smoke away from the alarm, and Ryan takes over the cooking.

We've tried other "plans of attack" - and this plan has been the most successful.

I sure hope you got a better night of sleep last night knowing they will most likely interview you next week for your hospital job! In the meantime, enjoy your PRN job and trust that all will work out for you!
You ARE a heavy sleeper. and you radiate heat.

I hope these sleepless nights are behind you very, very soon!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith

8 Months

Well, I missed month 1-8. But it is never too late to begin, right? Here is a recap of Maddy at 8 months. (I'm totally stealing this idea from my sister, Lisa. I thought it was so neat that she recaps her son's favorites and happenings every month)   How am I sleeping? Better than I was - but not as good as my peers. It also depends on if I'm teething. Last week, her 2nd tooth was poking through - so she was awake 3 times.  No matter how much I let her cry it out, I cannot seem to cut down her feedings. When I go in there - she is literally pulling at my shirt with her mouth wide open. So clearly she's hungry.  She eats 2 times/night and luckily goes right back to sleep. It is what it is. What am I eating? While we have had breastfeeding and bottle refusal struggles - I am so glad that taking to food as been relatively smooth. We are doing baby led weaning, and Maddy really enjoys most every food I've given her.  Her favorite foods are scrambled eggs, apples, and c

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for
