Ten On Tuesday

It's Monday night/Tuesday morning-ish (past midnight) I'm home from my 1st shift! It went really really well! Somehow.... But I'm completely and utterly wired and cannot sleep. I don't know how this is possible.

However, for the past 9 hours I did sit down once. And didn't eat dinner until 11:15 pm. So that could contribute to my current state of insomnia?!

It's work-out-week for 10 on Tuesday!! Yay! :)

1. What does your work out schedule look like?
It changes every week, but I do 4 runs/week. Here is this weeks schedule :)
Monday - 5 mile tempo run (avg pace 8:15/mile) - Strength: Quadiceps, shoulders, abs, lungs
Tuesday - 6 mile hills on tredmill - Strenghth: abs and stretching
Wednesday - Cross train - bike 40 minutes, swim 20 Strength: abs, squats, back,
Thursday - 19 miles
Friday - off day - go for walk
Satruday - 8 miles + plylometics

Saturday - off day (go for walk, stretch)
2. What is your favorite machine to use at the gym?
I prefer free weights. But I love the assisted-squat bar. I use it for squats, I change it's position to do variations of push ups, and do these lying-down-pull ups.
3. What is your favorite class to take at the gym?
- I don't really do classes anymore.  But I love kickboxing and would love to be an instructor some day!

4. Where do you shop for work out gear and clothing?
Target! None other :)
5. If you can’t go to the gym, do you have a favorite outdoor activity?
I love running. Obviously. But my favorite way to incorporate strength is finding a football/soccer field and doing different plylometrics, jump-roping in the garage!
6. What about a favorite work out DVD? If so, please share!
Billy Blanks Tae Bo!!
7. Are you more active now or when you were in high school?
Definitely. I never was consistent about being active in high school.
8. How has your dieting/working out philosophy changed since high school?
Completely different WORLDS. In high school everything I did was to be thin. Now, I do it to keep a healthy heart, strong bones, and good lungs. And it's fun!!!
My legs & shoulders are no longer "feminine-cute-toned" -- they're strong. (No, I don't look like a body-budiler...but...)
In high school/college, I would've had a heart attack over this. Now, it makes me proud and feel strong! :)

9. What do you do while working out– (i.e., day dream, read, listen to music, gab with a friend)?
I just think, plan/schedule out my day, and plan out my life. I also like to say prayers for family when I'm doing long rungs.
10. What working out resolution would you like to make for yourself this year?
Well, 2010 I'm running my 2nd marathon. But my 2011 I would like to do a triathalon!

You are truly an inspiration for this old woman trying to get fit!

What are plylometics? Maybe this is something I should be doing at the gym?

Yes, what are plyometics? I've never heard of them, but then, there isn't a gym in Wyndmere so probably wouldn't help me at all! I just push a lawn mower several nights a week!:(
Yay I hope you do a triathlon :) They are really fun!

I agree about working out in hs vs. now, then it was about being thin (though like Lisa I really was going to be thin anyways, but I THOUGHT I had to do it to be thin haha)

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith...

One Confused Lady

Yesterday morning was packed with a session of cross training.....rushed home to shower and get professional-looking....headed across town for an interview.....kicked butt at my interview...."bopped" over to our house to see the progress of the build......headed to the "design center" to sign more paperwork.... (Side note: I cannot get over just how much paperwork is involved in building a house. Holy Hannah. And we haven't even closed !!! Iy-yi-yi....Those lovely people in history who got law-suit-happy.....God bless 'em.) Yesterday was a good day! So here's a little humor for your Thursday. A little thought. A little depth.....( A little cynical rant ) Afterwards, I decided to head to one of my favorite places to peruse.... Target. But my experience at Target was far from fun, relaxing, or pleasant. Just confusing. Loud. Crazy. Despite many screaming children-temper tantrums.... Which is common and un-escapable. Although screaming chi...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...
