Pleasant

First off, I would like to wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas! I hope you were all able to take some time to celebrate with the one's you love last week! I know I did! Things are very pleasant here lately! We stayed in Tucson, since I worked Christmas Eve night -- but we had a beautiful Christmas dinner and day with Ryan's Dad and Lora.

Christmas day morning I walked in the door about 8 am, and I walked in out my "Santa Baby" stuffing our stockings. It made me smile. I went to sleep for a few hours, and woke to the sweet, delectible smells of monkey bread & fresh ground Italian Roast coffee!

We opened presents by the tree. And I was spoiled with many wonderful gifts! I was very touched by how fortunate we are. We sat by the fire, and Ryan taught me how to use my new Kindle he got me. And we headed to Chris & Lora's for a fantastic day of fun with them and Ryan's younger siblings!

They've started a family tradition of doing "Seven Fishes" -- which is an Italian custom (I believe?...Correct me if I'm wrong, Lora!). We delighted ourselves with  2 types of pickled herring, shrimp cocktail, Ahi Tuna, Stuff Scallops, salmon, clam chowder, .....and I think I'm forgetting one other fish. Maybe all the wine they served some type of created a memory lapse?!?!

But it was delcious! The night was filled with great conversation and much laughter.

Speaking of memory lapses....I have been a bit of a zombie lately. I switched to night shift last Wednesday. I work Wed, Thurs, Friday -- and I pretty much only got a total of 8 hours of sleep those 3 days. I just couldn't crack sleeping during the day. I went to Christmas Eve mass seriously looking like Scrooge. I was a complete zombie cracked out on coffee.

.....However.....I have adjusted. This is my 2nd week and I'm feeling fantastic!!

..Thanks to some vitamins, I will admit.

A post is to come soon about my "Adjustment to Zombieland" -- and it's proved to me that my body can do pretty much anything I train it to do!

Happy New Years to everyone if I don't post before then. Who's ready to kick 2010 outta here?! I know I am. :) Not that it wasn't a good year...I'm just ready for new-ness.

You got a Kindle? That is neat! And Ryan's monkey bread looks so good! He spoils you, my dear! But I know you do special things for him, too. Hope your New Year is everything you hope it to be and more!

You got a kindle? That's awesome!! I love my Nook. I will say, it took me about 1-2 books to get used to reading on my Nook but now I love it!! :) I just love that it's so light and portable. Some of the books I read were quite large and tough to carry in my purse. Ah, you will love it. :) Such a great gift!

I read about the Feast of the 7 Fishes on a blog. It is an Italian Tradition. :) So you got that right! :)

I am glad that you are adjusting to the night shifts. Not easy but hopefully you will be able to switch to day shifts eventually!

And I too am ready to close the door on 2010 with a firm kick. 2011, bring it on. I am so ready to be done with 2010. To be perfectly honest, it has probably been one of the worst years of my life!

Talked to Lisa about her Nook. I really liked it. I know it is only a matter of time before I get something like that. I am interested to learn how you make the adjustment to working nights. I know there are way to help one's body adjust because so many people are successful. I assume it is similar to avoiding jet lag. Good luck!

I was impressed with Ryan's carpentry skills!!!

Happy New Year!!! Oh, and I love the cartoons! :)

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

One Confused Lady

Yesterday morning was packed with a session of cross training.....rushed home to shower and get professional-looking....headed across town for an interview.....kicked butt at my interview...."bopped" over to our house to see the progress of the build......headed to the "design center" to sign more paperwork.... (Side note: I cannot get over just how much paperwork is involved in building a house. Holy Hannah. And we haven't even closed !!! Iy-yi-yi....Those lovely people in history who got law-suit-happy.....God bless 'em.) Yesterday was a good day! So here's a little humor for your Thursday. A little thought. A little depth.....( A little cynical rant ) Afterwards, I decided to head to one of my favorite places to peruse.... Target. But my experience at Target was far from fun, relaxing, or pleasant. Just confusing. Loud. Crazy. Despite many screaming children-temper tantrums.... Which is common and un-escapable. Although screaming chi...
