Ten on Tuesday!

I would love to be doing a re-cap post on our camping trip from the weekend, as I have many great memories to share such as....
  • 35 mph winds blowing while setting up our tent -- which nearly turned the tent into a parasail and sent me clear south to Mexico!  (and requiring some serious team-work & cooperation between Ryan & I. Can I say marital test?! ;) )
  • Seriously having to cuddle up for body heat in our sleeping bags through very chilly, desert nights!
  • Excellent meals cooked on the fire
  • My husband becoming very warrior-like and slaying a snake with a stick & a rock...
  • Visiting the wineries on our trip down!
I would have time to post pictures since I had today off...but it didn't happen since from 6am-now (7pm) I have been cleaning, doing laundry, working in the garden, working out, and shopping for our NEXT camping trip on Friday!!

So...here is 10 on Tuesday...which clearly takes less effort from my blogging-energy:

1. What is the weather like in your city today?

It was actually a "cooler" day for May. 16 degrees F below average. It was windy, 80 degrees, and sunny!
2. Do you like the zoo?
Kind of, yes. Sometimes it gets smelly, though. And I don't enjoy that. I seem to be the most drawn to monkees, aquarium-life, and flamingoes.
3. Do you eat coconut?
Yes. We have a tradition of cracking one open on our anniversary. Well, I dont know how much of a "tradition" it is...being we've only had one Anniversary. But we decided last year to make it our tradition! I love fresh coconut. Hate the shredded crap from the bag.
4. Have you ever hammered a nail? Are you good at it?
Yes, many. I would have to say I've attained some skill at it.

5. Does your family have a vacation destination that you visit often?
Battle Lake, MN -- my parents have a lake cabin on it and I pretty much call that my "home". It's the best!

For Ryan & I -- I would say our "vacation destination" would be White Mountains in AZ, since we've decided to make this at least an annual trip. It is just an amazing escape from reality to enjoy the great outdoors!

6. How many pillows do you sleep with?
3! 2 go behind my head, and one goes under my knees (or between my knees if I'm lying on my side) to keep my back healthy!
7. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Wash my face, put in contacts, brush my teeth while making coffee (quite the multitasker)

Unless it's a morning where I work out at 4:30 am before work...then I just jump out of bed in a mad rush, put on my clothes & contacts, and head out the door!

8. Will you send your kids to summer camp?
If I had kids, absolutely. Summer camp holds my best childhood memories. For me, it was band camp -- since music was my focus. I also went to basketball camp & this math/science camp.

9. What do you put in your baked potatoes?
Typically I will put fat-free sour cream, chives, salt, & pepper.

Sometimes when I'm really wanting comfort food-- I go for mustard, S & P. Yes, I know. Very odd..

10. Did you take swimming lessons as a kid?
Yes! For 2 weeks every summer...and it was the thing I looked forward to all year. I love/loved swimming.

Wow, sounds like quite the camping trip! Can't wait to see pics and hear more about it!

80 degrees = cooler. Ha. I can't even wrap my mind around that. The weather has improved here, though. So i am not longer scheming on how to move. Well, at least not today.

Yes, 80 degrees sounds like a heat wave when we have only had a day of 70 degree temps so far! The wind I could do without - never have been fond of it, but the farmers are delighted as it is drying things out for them. I love the monkeys at a zoo, too! I think they remind us of ourselves! I love coconut, even the stuff that comes shredded in a bag!

One Confused Lady

Yesterday morning was packed with a session of cross training.....rushed home to shower and get professional-looking....headed across town for an interview.....kicked butt at my interview...."bopped" over to our house to see the progress of the build......headed to the "design center" to sign more paperwork.... (Side note: I cannot get over just how much paperwork is involved in building a house. Holy Hannah. And we haven't even closed !!! Iy-yi-yi....Those lovely people in history who got law-suit-happy.....God bless 'em.) Yesterday was a good day! So here's a little humor for your Thursday. A little thought. A little depth.....( A little cynical rant ) Afterwards, I decided to head to one of my favorite places to peruse.... Target. But my experience at Target was far from fun, relaxing, or pleasant. Just confusing. Loud. Crazy. Despite many screaming children-temper tantrums.... Which is common and un-escapable. Although screaming chi...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for...
