Well I am back in Tucson with my better half! However, he's home for only less than a week - so it's a little bit more of a stressful week than we'd like. Rushing to get his uniforms and flight suits ready, getting our taxes filed, setting up a pool man (because I was an epic fail at managing the pool while he was gone)....
But we are loving every second we get together, I must say! Even picking weeds yesterday was a blast. (We got a lot of rain while I was in Montgomery, which produced a lot of weeds). It's just good to be together.
I am joining in on Lisa's fun with the 11 things on the 11th - so here goes.
1. If you could live in any other city besides the one you currently live in, which one would you pick?
Both Ryan and I have our eyes on Macdill AFB -- which is located outside of Tampa, FL. That AFB happens to house his dream job -- and being I can work just about anywhere, this works. I just love the ocean, and I love Florida. Maybe some day.....:-)
2. Who has been the most influential person in your life?
Besides my parents who shaped my motivation, morals, and values....I would have to say my husband. He has impacted my life greatly. I wouldn't be in Tucson if it weren't for him. I am quite positive I wouldn't be who I am if it weren't for him. It's pretty awesome that fate paired us together!
3. What is your favorite comfort food?
My comfort food is a meal. Plain Macoroni with ketchup. Pickled beets. Salad with ranch. This is what I eat when I'm feeling defeated by life and I only have this meal maybe 1-2 times yearly. It's heavenly and always makes me feel better.
4. What is the best vacation you've ever been on?
Probably our Cancun honeymoon. The resort that we stayed at was phenomenal.
5. How many siblings do you have?
It's easier to break it down: 2 brothers, 2 sisters. 2 sister-in-laws. 1 brother-in-law. (on my side). Then by marriage I have 3 sister-in-laws. 2 brother-in-laws. I cannot imagine life without my siblings.
6. If I were to visit the city where you live, what is one thing we would absolutely have to do and one restaurant we'd go to?
Seeing Mount Lemon is a must - you go from Sonoran Desert to forest. It has some awesome hiking trails. If you're visiting during the fall, I'd take you to Oktoberfest which is so charming. I'd take you to Noble Hops, which is a Gastropub we can walk to from our house. We'd walk the golfcourse, or maybe bike the trail to it. Great food, beer, and views. And I would take you to Main Gate Square near the University, as it has some pretty cool restaurants, shopping, sites, and people watching. We would walk the University, as it has impressive plants and landscaping.
7. Do you speed while driving and if so, how many miles (or km) over the speed limit do you usually go?
I don't. In fact, I'm kind of a weenie of a driver. I don't drive very often - so now get scared when I have to go over 45 mph. I stay in one lane, and go the speed limit.
8. Give me a book recommendation.
Icy Sparks by Gwyn Hyman Rubio. It's about a young girl in the 50's that clearly has a mental illness -- and the view of mental illness in the south during that time is very interesting and terribly sad. (I'm still reading it)
9. What is one thing you really want to accomplish in the next 5 years?
I will be in the middle in NP school at the end of 5 years. I will run the Carlsbad Marathon. I would love to visit someplace outside of North America. Open to your traveling suggestions! We are thinking Europe.
10. If you could painlessly change your name, what would you change it to? Or would you prefer to keep your current name?
I love my name. Abby fits me well. And when I want to sound more important, I introduce myself as Abigail.
11. When flying, do you talk to your seat mate, or are you like me and you prefer to remain silent?
Silent. Silent. Silent. Just because we are seated together does not mean we need to be friends. I don't care where you're flying. I don't care what you do for a living. And I don't care about your children or grandchildren. Sorry, we're strangers.

And just think - if you ever were to move to Tampa, you'd be close to a bunch of McDougalls! Double bonus! :)
