Happy News

It's been a good 48 hours for this little Nastase family! As I write this blog, I am sipping a celebratory glass of Canelo Hills Cabernet (the best wine on the planet - seriously), as Ryan creates/edits his class video for his "Drop Night" next Friday. (More to come on "drop night" next week). We have a few happy things to thank God for today.

First and foremost, I have to make a big shout-out to my husband, Ryan. He passed his check ride yesterday. Heck, he didn't just pass it, he got rated an 'Excellent' on it (which is the highest you can get). I can't even begin to describe how hard he's worked. Being a rated pilot for the Air Force is a dream Ryan has held since he was a little man, and passing this check ride means he will be getting his wings on October 4.

The second awesome piece of news is I got offered a contract today with a hospital for the rest of my time here in San Antonio! I've tried keeping quiet about this in my blog. But let's just say, this "agency nursing" thing has tested me.

Every morning, my phone rings at 4:30 am telling me where and if I'm going to work. Some days I would get confirmed to work, then cancelled, then comfirmed, show up, and then they would send me home and say "Sorry, we don't need you anymore". There are been weeks where I've worked full time, there have been weeks where I only got 1 shift.

We live in a hotel room - so my sanity has been tested. Through it all, I have made it priority to keep a smile on my face and be thankful that I have a job. I also kept positive, because I know I'll return to normalcy when we get back to Tucson!.

Sometimes the nurses haven't been very welcoming to me, "the outsider". So having this hospital say, "We love you! We want you here full time, can you quit your agency and just come work for us?" Resassured me that I'm not a useless waste of time.

More happy news? We are going to Austin tomorrow to celebrate Labor Day weekend! I am so looking forward to seeing this city!

I pray everyone has a great Labor Day weekend! I hope it is filled with sunshine, family, relaxation, laughter, and all good things! I am beyond excited to get out of this hotel room we inhabit for a few days!

Wow a big week for the Nastase household. I am glad you both have things to celebrate! I am so proud of Ryan for passing with flying colors. Well done, Ry! And I am so happy that you will have more stability in your life right now. I am sure more than anything it's nice to be 'wanted' by a hospital. Well, and it's nice to have a consistent schedule, too. But it's just nice that a hospital recognized your talent. Shows you are in the right field and great at what you do!!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

One Confused Lady

Yesterday morning was packed with a session of cross training.....rushed home to shower and get professional-looking....headed across town for an interview.....kicked butt at my interview...."bopped" over to our house to see the progress of the build......headed to the "design center" to sign more paperwork.... (Side note: I cannot get over just how much paperwork is involved in building a house. Holy Hannah. And we haven't even closed !!! Iy-yi-yi....Those lovely people in history who got law-suit-happy.....God bless 'em.) Yesterday was a good day! So here's a little humor for your Thursday. A little thought. A little depth.....( A little cynical rant ) Afterwards, I decided to head to one of my favorite places to peruse.... Target. But my experience at Target was far from fun, relaxing, or pleasant. Just confusing. Loud. Crazy. Despite many screaming children-temper tantrums.... Which is common and un-escapable. Although screaming chi...
