Currently

A few months have managed to pass since I did my last post like this. So here are my current "Currently's"  :)

Current Book:
"Me Before You" by Jojo Moyes. It's about a women taking care of a quadriplegic. It sounds like a sad book, but it's actually quite funny at times - as the character has a funny and dry sense of humor. It also really opens my eyes to things I've never really thought about with being w/c-bound.

Current Excitement:
My Friday night date with 2 of my girlfriends. We are having dinner and going to a movie based of a book we read --  "If I Stay". Excited to see it! Fully prepared for tears, since I cried during the book!

Current Fashion:
Well, In 4 days I will begin wear jeans again. (September 1) Even if it's 100+ degrees out. It's September. I'm ready to boycott summer! I miss jean and sweaters so much.......

Current Drink:
I am currently drinking a lot of Bigelow Green tea with Mint. I made a huge batch of it for our party Saturday, so had leftovers. Now I'm kind of hooked!!

Current Love:
The rain. We have had 1-2 good rains/week over the past month - which we need so bad. The humidity is brutal, but I'm okay with it if it's bringing moisture to our dry ground!!

Current Food:
I have to brag on my red-pepper pesto I made for the party. It may be my new favorite. It had roasted red peppers (about 2 cups), 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, 1/4 cup grated parmesan, several cloves garlic, salt, pepper, and I added some lemon.

We used it for dipping bread @ the party - but Monday night I took leftovers and mixed it with whole-grain pasta. Yum!!

Current Indulgence:
Lattes. Lately, I splurge at least once/week and get a Skinny Vanilla latte at Starbucks. So good when it hits your lips...

Currently Pondering
The current theme of my life is pondering what I want to be when I grow up. And then realizing I already am a grown up. Trying to come up with a great master plan. Getting frustrated. And just forgetting about it and praying I can figure myself out.

Current Mood
Calm and quiet.... I haven't been feeling the greatest the past 2 days (I think my body is trying to fight something off) - so I'm finally just listening, and letting it rest and heal. I skipped swim practice this morning and my planned gym workout tonight. It's amazing how much spare time comes about when you take 2 hours worth of training out of the day! ;)

Current New Find
Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar! "Bragg's, Raw, Unfiltered, With the Mother". - It's supposed to change your life and make you super-healthy, apparently. For me? It tastes better than the Kroger-brand cider vinegar.

I will say I tried the 2 oz vinegar, 1 tbsp. honey, and water drink that was supposed to taste good?..... No.

Current Outfit
I'm still in my work clothes - so I'm wearing a white A-line skirt with a navy and white cardigan. It's one of my favorite work outfits! It comfortable with a touch of nautical :)

Current Peeve
Not being able to breath when I run. I assume it's the humidity. I'm too stubborn to take my inhaler.

Current Triumph
I've found a new and efficient way to do audits at work - and that's my triumph this week. I love audits. It makes some odd part of my brain strangely happy!

Current Wish List
New running shoes. I'm annoyed that my Mizuno Wave Creations are so expensive!!!

Currently delaying
"Pulling the trigger" and registering for my half ironman. It's really frickin' kind of scary. That's a lot of miles. But prices go up in a few days!!!

I didn't know you ran in Wave Creations! When did you switch from Wave Riders? I've never tried any other Mizuno shoes so I will have to look at those next time I shoe shop.

I know you are going to do great at the HIM. You have trained hard and smart and hopefully by the time the race rolls around, the temps will drop a bit and the humidity will have gone away. The humidity finally broke here and it's been glorious! It makes running so much more enjoyable.

Humidity is not a fan of outdoor activities, including mowing lawn! I, too, despise it!
I have heard that the book "Me Before You" is great so hope to read it, too! I haven't started our Book Club book yet, so hope to get at it soon!
That pesto sounds so good! I have never raised basil so have never made pesto but do love it!
Hope you feel up to snuff soon so you can resume your training and I hope it goes well!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

One Confused Lady

Yesterday morning was packed with a session of cross training.....rushed home to shower and get professional-looking....headed across town for an interview.....kicked butt at my interview...."bopped" over to our house to see the progress of the build......headed to the "design center" to sign more paperwork.... (Side note: I cannot get over just how much paperwork is involved in building a house. Holy Hannah. And we haven't even closed !!! Iy-yi-yi....Those lovely people in history who got law-suit-happy.....God bless 'em.) Yesterday was a good day! So here's a little humor for your Thursday. A little thought. A little depth.....( A little cynical rant ) Afterwards, I decided to head to one of my favorite places to peruse.... Target. But my experience at Target was far from fun, relaxing, or pleasant. Just confusing. Loud. Crazy. Despite many screaming children-temper tantrums.... Which is common and un-escapable. Although screaming chi...
