2017 Bucket List

Resolutions?

Goals?

Bucket List.

Because I like lists.

2017 - bring it on.

This is my list, in no particular order of importance - just things I'd like to check off the list when we ring in 2018 next year...

It makes me fill better if I was unable to check something off the list. In opposed to "I didn't reach my goal." or "I failed miserably at the resolutions this year"
  • Get my recipes organized
  • Qualify for the Boston Marathon during my 2.24.17 marathon -- (goal time is 3:25)
  • Run a half marathon in 1:35
  • Run 2017 miles
  • Don't miss mass.
  • Become a subject matter expert in at least 2 quality areas (boring work stuff) ;)
  • By the end of the year, be submitting application to become a coach at work (which is my companies term for a "manager")
  • Visit NYC
  • Touch the Statue of Liberty (do they let you do that?)
  • Run in Central Park
  • Eat a hot dog from a New York City hot dog stand. (I don't even like hot dogs...but it's necessary)
  • Keep our Run Club students engaged in running through the summer (which will require some volunteer hours)
  • Watch my sister walk down the aisle
  • Be better about calling my family, nieces, nephews on birthdays.
  • Scuba Dive in Himalaya Bay, Mexico
  • Make kimchi
  • Make crème brulee (my favorite dessert)
  • Climb to the top of Mica Mountain (incorporated into a local backpacking trip)
  • Go to Europe (gosh, I hope we can pull this one off between how much Ryan will be traveling all over for work)
  • Rediscover my love for music. Church choir? Find a piano on craigs list?
  • Plant a fruit tree (probably lemon and lime)
  • Eat a Sonoran Dog ( I have put this off for the 8 years I've lived here. I've just gotta "swallow the frog" er Sonoran Dog.)
  • Have a successful tomato plant (easier said than done in the desert)
  • Try making dry-cured olives from our tree.
  • Spend the 4th of July with my family.
  • Wakeboard.
  • Try snow skiing (After my marathon. Lol)
  • Read at least 1 book every 2 months.
  • Master making Chicken Vindaloo
And that wraps it up! 2017 - bring it on! I better go get busy. I've got recipes to master, books to read, family to call, and miles to run! ;)

What is on your bucket list for 2017?

Whoa, that is a big list! You best get going! I love it, though and it will be fun to see how many you accomplished! Have fun doing those things, and good luck on qualifying for the Boston! 3.5 hours? Wow!

That is a fun list of things to achieve! I love lists, too, so totally get the satisfaction of crossing things off. I'm glad I got to make your list! :)

I"ve been to NYC multiple times and have yet to see the statue of liberty up close! I have only seen it from afar.

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

Good things

I must say there are many good things I have to be happy about right now! I am in my psychiatric-mental health nursing rotation right now. I originally chose nursing as my major beause from the time I was like 12 I wanted to be a psych nurse. I love it so far. The clinicals are incredible. I am finding I am more organized and ahead of things in this class than I ever have been! Now, if I could be this motived with Critical Care and my Capstone this summer......:) Ryan and I got an entire day together yesterday!!!! This is rare. My spring break kind of sucked. He would leave at about 6 a.m., and not return until 8 p.m. The poor guy is spread too thin! So I cherish a day like yesterday! Which consisted of............. Spring Training baseball!!!!!! Diamondbacks vs. Oakland Atheletics. It was nearly a close-out. 10-1. We met his bosses wife at the game and she insisted we ditch our seats & sit in the seats in front of them that they had purchased . So we were FRONT ROW BEHIND HO...
