Appreciating the Chill...

So I began nursing school yesterday. It reminded me of the first time I ever stepped onto a tredmill. You feel so excited, confident, and prepared to get into shape. You have the coolest running clothes on EVER, a water bottle with enough water sufficient to run a marathon, and you're just pumped....and you get on--put it at an ungodly speed and you start running. You are tripping over your own feet looking like you don't even know how to walk, until you fall FLAT on your face.

I got home at 10:00 pm last night from class, and Ryan was excited for me asking me about my day. I didnt' feel upset, or anything at all...I was just kind of stoic and said "Yeah..it's was cool...." (tears about to come rolling down my eyes)
However, I was up at 5, the crack of dawn this morning and started tackling the god-awful APA formatted papers, and the lengthy endless readings, and the research for my group projects--before I knew it...it was 11:30. I have always been a lucky student and a HUGE miminalist. I STIVE to put the least amount of time in to get the best results. And for the 1st time in my life...I'm actually enjoying putting in those extra hours.

There are so many reasons in my daily life that I know that Ryan is beyond perfect for me...and this just puts the icing on top of the cake. Our schedules are completely opposite right now (he's at school, I'm at home studying...he's at home studying when I'm at school)...but we still find the moments that we GET together to be amazing. The past few weeks, we have both had a nice little break--and have been able to enjoy the outdoors, enjoy each other's company, cook some amazing meals, and get some fishing in! So here are some pictures that I have been looking at to make me truly "appreciate the chill"

Fishing in the park for the day..Although we had no catches--it was January 1st, in the 70's, we grilled, played frisbee, saw some great wildlife....we had an amazing day.

I am so excited for this new chapter in your life, Abby! I know it's going to be challenging (especially the off-schedules thing with Ryan) but I also know that you'll meet the challenges and be a success. It's wonderful that your future husband is your best friend & soul mate.

We're cheering you on!!

Hey Abs - hang in there & don't get too overwhelmed. You'll get through it & the 20 months will fly by! This will make you really, really appreciate your time with Ryan!

OMG!!! Fishing in January without an ice house and with shorts on!!!! That’s just downright wrong…okay, not wrong I’m just totally jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you guys would have been in AZ while we were there…maybe; it wouldn’t have sucked so badly. I don’t know why we didn’t like it! It’s weird how things work out. Anyway, Abby I hope you start liking school more!!!! Just think! I’m feeling your pain, only I’m trying the stupid treadmill (elliptical). Hahaha Hope you have a great day tomorrow! Love ya

Dear Sweet Abby,

Your metaphor, the treadmill and school...you nailed it. Keep your eye on the prize, graduation, and find comfort and support from all who truly love you and Ryan. As I tell Ry, this is only a small portion of your life...the rest is yet to come.

Abby, I appreciate, so much, that you took valuable time out of your "first weekend of nursing school" to come out & celebrate Alexa's birthday with us! I know it meant alot to her (and to my parents) as well!

I hope you have another successful, inspiring week. Just think...you're one week closer to achieving your career in nursing!!

Love you and are so proud of you (and Ryan, too!)

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

One Confused Lady

Yesterday morning was packed with a session of cross training.....rushed home to shower and get professional-looking....headed across town for an interview.....kicked butt at my interview...."bopped" over to our house to see the progress of the build......headed to the "design center" to sign more paperwork.... (Side note: I cannot get over just how much paperwork is involved in building a house. Holy Hannah. And we haven't even closed !!! Iy-yi-yi....Those lovely people in history who got law-suit-happy.....God bless 'em.) Yesterday was a good day! So here's a little humor for your Thursday. A little thought. A little depth.....( A little cynical rant ) Afterwards, I decided to head to one of my favorite places to peruse.... Target. But my experience at Target was far from fun, relaxing, or pleasant. Just confusing. Loud. Crazy. Despite many screaming children-temper tantrums.... Which is common and un-escapable. Although screaming chi...
