Welcome, August!

I know most are sad to see August here - for it is the near of the end of summer. But, I'm not going to lie - I'm pretty darn excited for it! AZ summer suck, and I graduate this month. So, Bienvenido! :)

Current Music:
I have been enjoying classical piano music on my down time - played by ME on my keyboard. *Heavenly* :) Oh, how I missed the piano!!

Current Shame-Inducing Guilty Pleasure:
Jolly Ranchers. Yum.

Current Colors:
White. I'm digging white lately - since we are approaching the last days of being able to wear white pants.

Current Obsessions:
Hm - interviewing techniques, job hunting. I spend so much down time researching "Interview Techniques". I'm currently reading some book about "The Best Answers to the Toughest Interview Questions".
Good Times.

Current Drink:
Orange Juice slushes. I put orange juice in the blender with ice - and it makes me smile.
Also, my post-run favorite is a glass of Silk Soy Milk Light with a little Nutmeg sprinkled on it. (it's kind of like Egg-nog in July...even though I hate Egg Nog.......)

Current Song:
Pomp and Circumstance is the tune I'm whistling these days :)

Current Movie:
I am just watching the 1st movie I've watched all week right now! (July 31 at 9 pm...) The Boy With the Striped Pajamas - it is excellent. Sad, however. I highly recommend it.

Current TV Shows:
The news is really all I've watched in the AM. On a day that I don't have clinicals/school - I like to have the Today's Show on in the background during the morning.

Current Wish-List:
-My RN license. I really hate the fact that in 3 weeks I will have my BSN, but am absolutely useless until I pass NCLEX and have my license. So annoying.
-A hair cut. I was going to do it yesterday - but keep putting it off. I hate getting my hair cut......

Current Needs:
-A job.
-More hours in the day.

Current Triumph:
-Things are going extremely well with Practicum.
-I ran 10 miles yesterday at an 8:15/mile pace. (2 years ago I was running 10 miles at a 9:40/mile pace!)
-My daisies are out of control (in a good way)

Current Bane of my Existence:
Trying to be the best nurse possible, so that the manager of the unit I'm doing practicum on will want to hire me.

Current Goals:
-Get hired.
-Make a smashing birthday cake for my husband this week.
-Start my training for the marathon on the right foot, and spend 10 minutes stretching every night that I run.

Current Indulgence:
Smoked Oyesters.

Current Blessings:
-Ryan. He keeps me sane!!
Current (Fav) Outfit:
My new business suit. It was tough finding one that didn't make me look like a 12 year old in a flight attendant costume..... But I found one with Ryan's help! :)

Current Excitement:
Next Sunday we celebrate our 1st Anniversary! Marriage is awesome :)

Current Mood:
Excited! I graduate in 20 days. We are having a fantastic weekend planned next weekend to celebrate our Anniversary. My parents are visiting next week - Life is good! :)

Good luck with your job search! You have been a busy, busy person!!!
Well done on the 10 mile run! You are just so speedy!

The orange juice slush sounds fab. I think it would send my acid reflux into high gear, though... Boo for GERD.

August is an exciting month for you! And you are one month closer to your Thanksgiving trip home!

Hey, August is here! I do hate the end of summer as it goes too fast, but I do love fall in the midwest! I just want it to last until December! We are so excited to come on the 19th and it will be here before you know it! Prayers coming your way on getting hired and with your NCLEX! And by the way, "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" is an awesome albeit sad movie! Well worth the pain of watching it, thouh!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for

8 Months

Well, I missed month 1-8. But it is never too late to begin, right? Here is a recap of Maddy at 8 months. (I'm totally stealing this idea from my sister, Lisa. I thought it was so neat that she recaps her son's favorites and happenings every month)   How am I sleeping? Better than I was - but not as good as my peers. It also depends on if I'm teething. Last week, her 2nd tooth was poking through - so she was awake 3 times.  No matter how much I let her cry it out, I cannot seem to cut down her feedings. When I go in there - she is literally pulling at my shirt with her mouth wide open. So clearly she's hungry.  She eats 2 times/night and luckily goes right back to sleep. It is what it is. What am I eating? While we have had breastfeeding and bottle refusal struggles - I am so glad that taking to food as been relatively smooth. We are doing baby led weaning, and Maddy really enjoys most every food I've given her.  Her favorite foods are scrambled eggs, apples, and c
