Monday

Well -- I sprung out of bed at 4:30 am today ready to fight and take on the world. A new week, a new month! Hurray!!

I'm not even going to indelve in the story. It's not worth your time. But, let's just say my Monday morning wasn't the greatest one in history....

I'm sick of coming home saying "Well that was a crappy day!" -- so I'm going to pretend that it was  FABULOUS day! :) Wahoo!!!

But on a happy note -- our weekend was very pleasant, fun, and relaxing! We cooked some delectable meals! Ryan smoked ribs all day Saturday. Ryan did the cooking and I was his assistant chef.

Sunday we carved pumpkins, watched football, and I made pumpkin turkey chili. Recipe to come -- it was incredible!

So here is the final display of our carvings! I have to say I'm quite proud!!

This is Ryan's pumpkin.

And this is mine :)

Election Day tomorrow! I dont know about you guys...but I am so ready for all this negative "campaigning" to be behind us!

I also have a dentist appointment tomorrow. Yikes. I'm so scared of the dentist! -- I do NOT have an ounce of pain tolerance!! Does anyone else get freaked out about the dentist?

Great jack-o-lanterns. Halloween is a nonevent in our household. We never have trick or treaters. I had fun taking the kids out when they were young, but don't miss it one bit now.

Visits to the dentist were scary when we were kids. But now, they make it as painless as possible. In fact, the last time I had an appointment, they had me dip my hands in warm wax and then wrapped my arms in warm towels so that I would feel comfortable and relaxed.
Now, that's crazy!

I love your jack-o-lanterns! And the ribs lookes so good I could almost smell them!
Like Barb, I have lost my enthusiasm for Halloween - feel a tad guilty that I don't even buy a pumpkin! I use to raise them by the scores! We only had 6 trick and treaters this year so my efforts would have been in vain. Last year a parent of some tricksters told me "It's no fun to come to your house anymore as you don't put up all that neat stuff!" It lost it's enjoyment after my kids left home!

The pumpkins look SO good. I am so impressed. Mine would look like a 5 year old did it.

Sorry yesterday was so rough. I think it will be better once you start at OV, though. Hopefully that is soon?

I don't really get cavities anymore (knock on wood) so it's not as traumatic to go to the dentist... I dont' enjoy it, but I don't loathe it as much as I did when i was a child!!

Yes, it's still traumatizing for me to go to the dentist. I have to PRETEND that it's fun, though, so the kids don't get freaked out. It's one of my least favorite things!

Pumpkin turkey chili? Hmmm...sounds interesting! I'd like to try it.

And to the negative campaigning? I AGREE!! Really, is there such a lack of new ideas that candidates have to hit so low?

Pumpkins turned out cute!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

One Confused Lady

Yesterday morning was packed with a session of cross training.....rushed home to shower and get professional-looking....headed across town for an interview.....kicked butt at my interview...."bopped" over to our house to see the progress of the build......headed to the "design center" to sign more paperwork.... (Side note: I cannot get over just how much paperwork is involved in building a house. Holy Hannah. And we haven't even closed !!! Iy-yi-yi....Those lovely people in history who got law-suit-happy.....God bless 'em.) Yesterday was a good day! So here's a little humor for your Thursday. A little thought. A little depth.....( A little cynical rant ) Afterwards, I decided to head to one of my favorite places to peruse.... Target. But my experience at Target was far from fun, relaxing, or pleasant. Just confusing. Loud. Crazy. Despite many screaming children-temper tantrums.... Which is common and un-escapable. Although screaming chi...
