Weekend Review

I have to say this past weekend was pretty awesome! It was jam packed and busy. By the time Sunday evening rolled around, I was exhausted! But worth it!

I kicked off my 3-day-weekend with a swim/bike brick Friday morning. Which was rough. 1 hour speed work swimming. 34 miles biking. I hit a wall. Learned that taking in some form of nutrition during these long work outs is mandatory. I drove home very pale....(90 + degrees with 60% humidity is no good...)

I went straight from my brick work out, to oatmeal, to a bathroom "mini-reno". We replaced light fixtures and painted. Ryan had to do rewiring, I was his "tool girl". This project turned into much more than expected.

It took 4 COATS of paint!!!!!!

(Pictures to come soon.....once I get around to decorating!!)

We took a break from painting at 6 pm to head over to my friend Lisa's 40th Birthday Party! It was the group of girlfriends who spend hours weekly running/biking/swimming together. So it was fun to get dressed up and spend the evening together!

(We are cheers'ing Fireball whiskey in this photo. Which took me about 30 minutes to sip 1/2 ounce. Delicious. But I am not a "shot taker")

Saturday I took a rest day from all my training! And it was the 1st time I've slept past 5 am in weeks! *cue harp music*  We got right to work on the 3rd & 4th coats of the bathroom painting. Then we headed downtown for a date night that I planned out for Ryan.....

(Enjoying a glass of wine on the balcony listening to live jazz music that was happening downtown)

I got us good rates at the Downtown Marriot. We stayed there, took the new trolley downtown (More to come on that story later. Let's just say, Ryan & I made the news!). We had drinks at Hotel Congress with my friend Heather and her fiancée Ray. (Hotel Congress is a bar/hotel that has been open since the 1920's. Kind of an interesting crowd and site.)

Then we went to dinner at Penca with our friend Jarrett & Heidi - work friends of Ryan's. Penca has Mexico City cuisine - and it is probably my favorite restaurant! I got the Beef Tongue tacos and the Nopales (cactus) tacos. Amazing!!

Sunday morning, we slept in again (!!!) and went for a 7 mile run through campus together. It was perfect (except for the deathly heat).

Then we checked out of our hotel, headed to church, and then back home.

We got home, started madly cleaning house, putting the house back together after our bathroom project, and cooking - as we had Ryan's Dad & family over for a pool day!

I walked away from this weekend with a full heart! It was productive, full of family & friends, and just all good things!

Comments

Dang, you did fit a lot into this weekend! But it sounds like you had a lot of fun so that is good. I know that exhausted Sunday night feeling, which is tough as weekends are supposed to be restorative! I hope you figure out how to fuel during your workouts as I know that's important to figure out before your race!

I love all of your outfits in this post! You look great!!

I love the picture of you & Ryan on the balcony! You look dreamy eyed in snuggled up to your mate!
You had a super busy weekend, and I don't know how you do all that activity in the heat! It must take a lot of water to keep yourself hydrated! Oh, my!
Get rested up this weekend for the big trip back "home"! We are so excited to see you both!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith

Currently - May edition

I haven't blogged much - but the last time I did one of these, Maddy was 9 months old. It's really fun looking back on the things that were "stressors" to me at that time. Prior to that - my currently post was a pregnancy edition.  So here goes May 2022. Maddy is almost a 15-month old and summer has set ablaze here in Tucson.   Reading :  I really wish I had a better answer for this one, but I have not been the best about reading lately. The only book I'm reading is "How to talk to your kids so they'll listen and listen so they'll talk". It is really good. Most of the book is geared more to school-aged kids, in my opinion. But it highlights some great communication skills with children to help them trust you as a parent to be open and honest. Eating: All the smoothies. It has been getting really hot here - and every day when we get home from our stroller run I make a smoothie for Maddy with whole milk, Fage, and fruit - and then a smoothie for

8 Months

Well, I missed month 1-8. But it is never too late to begin, right? Here is a recap of Maddy at 8 months. (I'm totally stealing this idea from my sister, Lisa. I thought it was so neat that she recaps her son's favorites and happenings every month)   How am I sleeping? Better than I was - but not as good as my peers. It also depends on if I'm teething. Last week, her 2nd tooth was poking through - so she was awake 3 times.  No matter how much I let her cry it out, I cannot seem to cut down her feedings. When I go in there - she is literally pulling at my shirt with her mouth wide open. So clearly she's hungry.  She eats 2 times/night and luckily goes right back to sleep. It is what it is. What am I eating? While we have had breastfeeding and bottle refusal struggles - I am so glad that taking to food as been relatively smooth. We are doing baby led weaning, and Maddy really enjoys most every food I've given her.  Her favorite foods are scrambled eggs, apples, and c
