10 Confessions

Here are my confessions......

  1. I have not cooked a dinner in 2 weeks. I did so well all summer long - using the crockpot in such creative ways. Some fuse in me has burnt out, and my care and dedication to being a great "hotel"maker has vanished.
  2. I never thought this day would come, but I think I'm sick of the Oven Roasted Chicken Breast sub at Subway. (I consume this about 3 meals/week). Yet, I'm too much of a creature of habit to just...order a different sandwich!
  3. Part of me feels guilty that I won't be accompanying Ryan to his next school in California. Especially after I was visiting with one of the wives last week at a bbq, who is accompanying her husband in a kitchenless hotel room for 5 months with their 3 month-old. (the hotel room at the next school doesn't even have a kitchen sink!)
  4. I felt even worse when she said, "Hey, we're a family. We stick together!"
  5. I got to run today! I've had no pain in my toe all week. I was all smiles. I'm proceeding with caution, however!
  6. We decided to keep our landscaping service and pool guy, even though I'll be home. I know I can clean the pool and keep up our yard...but it's kind of nice to not have to worry about it! (Feeling guilty)
  7. I'm done with my travel assignment! I left on good conditions from the hospital, and they invited me to return again. I am so happy I did this, and will recommend this to every new-ish nurse I ever meet! It made me grow a lot, and I feel like such a stronger ER nurse after this experience!
  8. My last draw with this hotel room came this weekend. I've been noticing little welts all over my body, and I'd barely been outside because I'd been working. Well, we found a MONSTER cob web on the ceiling. Halloween decoration style!!! I'm pretty sure those welts are spider bites. Now I don't sleep at night very well. (In fact the other night I was awake every hour, either itching my welts or pacing around the kitchen in a state of insomnia)
  9. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!! Ack!!!! Grosss!!!!!!!!!
  10. On Sunday I went shopping for an outfit for Ryan's wing-pinning ceremony. I bought a swimming suit, 2 pairs of running shorts, a new sports bra, and a new workout tank-top before Ryan literally had to drag me by my arm  to a store and force me to find something his his ceremony. I'm not so good at shopping. :)

Don't let that other couple's decision sway you. You might make a different decision if you had a child, you know? I think you are making the best decision for you two and that is what is most important. I know that is easier said that done to not feel swayed/guilty/etc.

Also don't feel guilty about the pool man/landscaping. I think you will have enough on your plate. And then you have someone to blame if something goes wrong with the pool! I used to have a cleaning service when I lived in Mpls. I felt guilty initially but got over it eventually. We all need some help now and then!!

What is your color?

Green My favorite color ever! I have to control myself to not purchase too many green things. If I had no control, my house would be green. My kitchen would be lime-themed. With greenery everywhere. My bathrooms would be green. My bedroom would be green. You would all feel nauseated-green after entering my home. (So I don't have a green-themed home) Many things I love are green, such as: Spinach (I eat it a minimum twice a day usually) My weding color was green. (clover green) Limes (I have at least one time a day) Grass. I love the feel of grass, especially since I see it so rarely in AZ (except in my neighborhood that has amazing landscapers with grass-galore) Palm trees. Any tree. Christmas trees. I love Christmas Green Beer. I think the green beer on St. Patty's Day tastes better. My favorite color of eyes. When I was in 9th grade, I so badly wanted to get green contacts. But they made me keep my brown eyes. Diet Mountain Dew (my guilty pleasure) Granny Smith...

A weekend of the great outdoors

As I am preparing for my return to the real world tomorrow, I feel a strong sense of dread. As I won't have a weekend or free week for a long while! Instead of focusing on that.......I'm sharing a few snapshots from our awesome weekend! This weekend we were in Big Lake, AZ -- which is about 20 miles from the New Mexico border (just 5 1/2 hours from our house). (last weekend we were in Parker Canyon...which I will blog about another day) We camped from Friday-Monday, which was the perfect length of time. The temperatures were a great escape from hot Tucson. In fact...it was VERY cold at night. It was in the low 30's at night, 60's during the day. The trout fishing was incredible. Here's a few snapshots: Home Sweet Home for the weekend! Look at the giant tree I cut down!!! Wow!! (Okay, this was posed...) But...Ryan did teach me how to use a wood-saw! There were tons of dead/fallen trees lying around. So we cut all our firewood for the weekend! I felt very ...

One Confused Lady

Yesterday morning was packed with a session of cross training.....rushed home to shower and get professional-looking....headed across town for an interview.....kicked butt at my interview...."bopped" over to our house to see the progress of the build......headed to the "design center" to sign more paperwork.... (Side note: I cannot get over just how much paperwork is involved in building a house. Holy Hannah. And we haven't even closed !!! Iy-yi-yi....Those lovely people in history who got law-suit-happy.....God bless 'em.) Yesterday was a good day! So here's a little humor for your Thursday. A little thought. A little depth.....( A little cynical rant ) Afterwards, I decided to head to one of my favorite places to peruse.... Target. But my experience at Target was far from fun, relaxing, or pleasant. Just confusing. Loud. Crazy. Despite many screaming children-temper tantrums.... Which is common and un-escapable. Although screaming chi...
